Tyrone Davis, real name Tyrone D. Fettson or Tyrone D. Branch, was an American singer who started his artistic career not singing but acting as a driver for blues singer Freddie King.
The career, the real one, really begins for him by going to sing in the Clubs, place where he will be spotted by Harrold Burrage, record producer. Unfortunately, their collaboration will not produce anything very concrete.
It is thanks to the help of another producer, this time Carl Davis, that the young singer will be able to sign in 1968 with a label worthy of the name, namely Dakar Records. Label with which he released a first track "A woman needs to be loved", single which will go somewhat unnoticed.
This is not the case with the B-side "Can I change my mind", a single which will give the singer his first major success and bring him to the forefront in an unexpected way, to say the least. Title that will sell over a million copies ! Single from the album named after the single, which was released a year later in 1969.
Success confirmed and amplified two years later in 1970 with the single "Turn back the hands of time", title which will offer the singer the biggest success of all his discography. Single from the album of the same name which was also released in 1970.
He will produce an impressive number of singles thereafter but none will be able to compete with the 2 previous successes. Apart from the single "Turning point" in 1975 and "Are you serious" in 1982 which will experience a very high level career in the Charts.
He suffered a stroke in 2004 which put an end to his career. An accident from which he did not recover following multiple complications and he disappeared a year later on February 9, 2005 at the age of 66.
