Living in a box is an English group formed in 1985 in Sheffield and composed of Richard Darbyshire, Anthony Critchlow and Marcus Vere.
They released a self-titled first Single two years later in 1987 and for a first try, to say the least, the start was literally smashing. The title is a worldwide hit and positions the group as one of the biggest revelations of the moment.
Single from their eponymous debut album which was released immediately. Album which will produce two other hits, minor this time, that are "Scales of justice" and "So the story goes".
Success was confirmed two years later in 1989 with the release of the album "Gatecrashing". The album produced a new global mega-hit with the Single "Blow the house down". Admittedly, it will not have the success of "Living in a box" but will come closer to it, thus confirming the status of confirmed value of the group. Album from which another high caliber track will be extracted with the Single "Rommin your heart".
Despite two totally euphoric years, artistic differences with the Chrysalis Label will become increasingly strong as to the future direction of the group. So much so that the group will eventually throw in the towel and go their separate ways.

1987 ... a startling to say the least, because only a single title, THIS title, was enough to bring the group One Shot into the musical legend of the 80s. Here they simply sign one of the biggest Dance hits of the decade. MAS-TER-FUL !
1987 ... for a first year of existence, the group will align no less than 3 hits. Of course, only the first will be some 'mega hit' type but the following 2 will not be ashamed, far from it ...
1987 ... even if the quality is there, the group will never manage to repeat the feat of the first title. To the impossible, no one is required as they say ...
1988 ... a small single-title year, with a title of average quality after all. Inspiration is in the subscribers absent in this year of transition ...
1989 ... a group with a more than ephemeral existence. Indeed, this will already be their last year of existence. And yes, already. Only positive point, the inspiration is back. A return of providential inspiration which allows the group to sign a new global top hit. Phew, they saved the furniture !
1989 ... a BIG year 1989 which sees the best alternate with all comers. This title would rather be part of the 2nd category ....
1989 ... after a flood of Dance titles, the group suddenly delivers a Intimist song, a musical niche which was not really their business until then. And my faith, what better way to end the adventure ...
