Stephanie Mills is an American singer who started her musical career in the musical "Maggie Flynn" at the age of 11.
It was in 1973 that she began her singing career with the release of the Single "I knew it was love", a Single that was only to be a small success.
Everything will suddenly accelerate when she plays Dorothy in the African-American adaptation of "Wizard of Oz". Her performance is striking and makes her a sure value for years to come. It was also around this time that she came close to a certain ... Michael Jackson.
A sure bet exploding in 1979 with the release of the album "What cha onna gonna do with my lovin" from which her first real hit will be extracted. Hit the name of the album.
She did it again a year later in 1980 with the hugely successful Single "Never knew love like this before" which remains the biggest hit of her career to date.
In 1981, another success with "Two hearts", followed in 1982 by "Keep away girls" then "Pilot error" in 1983.
Another huge hit in 1984 with the Single "The Medicine song" which hit both sides of the Atlantic.
Great year for her also in 1986 with the release of the Single "I have learned to respect the power of love". New hit in 1987 with "I feel good all over", extract from the album "If I were your woman" which will end Platinum Disc.
The album "Home" which came out in 1989 will offer her one last major success with the title "Something in the way you make me feel", album which will end Golden Record.
Other albums will be released thereafter without being able to compete with the level of excellence of the previous ones.
Still an active artist, Stéphanie Mills can boast of having one of the finest charts on the American music scene for the past 30 years.
