Her favorite time of the year...

Miki Howard, whose real name is Alicia Howard, is an American singer who was noticed at the age of 16 during a talent show by singer Augie Johnson, then leader of the group 'Side Effect'.

A group that she joined 3 years later in 1979 and with which she participated in 3 albums : “After the Rain” in 1980, “Portraits” in 1981 and “All Aboard” in 1982.  Three albums that will not remain not like the highest ranked in the group but which will at least have allowed her to move from shadow to light in a notable way.

Her solo career began in 1986 when she signed with the 'Atlantic Records' label, a label which allowed her to release her first album “Come share my love”. Album which will mainly produce the Single which bears the name of the album and which will above all offer a first success to the singer.

New album “Love confessions” a year later in 1987, an album which confirms the rise of the singer in particular through the Singles “Baby be mine” the same year and “That’s what love is” the following year in 1988.

A beautiful adventure which continued in 1989 with the release of the album which simply bears her name, an album with certain success once again and carried at arm's length by the Singles "Ain't nuthin' in the world" and "Love under new management”. But also, and above all, “Until you come back to me (That’s what I’m gonna do)” which in 1990 gave her her only success on both sides of the Atlantic.

The semblance of consecration arrived in 1992 with the release of the album “Femme fatale”, an album which will remain the highest ranked album in her entire discography. And which will also produce the highest ranked Single of all her Singles in the United States, namely “Ain’t nobody like you”.

Notorious successes which will be the last despite the release of other albums and other Singles subsequently...

To discover or rediscover...

Tracks :

1980...the first steps in grouped mode to quietly learn the trade. Minimalist risk-taking but maximum efficiency...

1980...especially since the group decided to explore all musical fields, from the most Dance to the softest. Well he takes it !

1980...a know-how in the Intimist which is clearly confirmed. There is real talent in this group, it is clear...

1981...this group will not have stayed in history as the most talented of its generation but everything he produced is not without interest, that's clear...

1981...he may have played a little too much in the Intimist to the detriment of the Dance but they will not have been unworthy in any case, far from it...

1981... it's a shame they didn't take a little more risk because they had everything they needed to do great things in any case...

1982...the tempo finally picks up but it is unfortunately too late. The competition is light years ahead from now on...

1982...this opus will therefore be the last for the group. A page that will turn for most of the members and launch young Alicia for good...

1982...one last title with several people before the big solo leap. She now has everything she needs to do it with complete peace of mind...

1986...it will just take her 4 more years to achieve this famous jump but here she is indeed back and this time on her own...

1986...solo debut which will not go unnoticed far from it, in particular thanks to a first classified opus which will ideally launch her to the front of the stage...

1986...from the first solo titles it is clear that this singer has everything it takes to do great things. To be continued definitely...

1987...she decides to revisit here a title dating from 1940, no less. And my goodness, the result is far from unworthy, that's clear...

1987...after this light Intimist parenthesis, here she is back in pure Dance mode. And whatever the field, the result is up to par !

1987...the rise in power is linear and the rise in the Charts is certain. Still no major hit but quality regardless !

1988...here she is in duo mode of shock and charm just to vary the pleasures a little. And even with 2 it works, who could have doubted it...?

1988...a predilection for the Intimist mode that is more than obvious, it is clear. This was already the case with Side Effect and it continues in single player mode...

1988...certain titles will not be released as Singles but it would have been a shame to hide them. So here is one brought to light as it should be...

1989...as soon as she accelerates the tempo the level of success inevitably climbs in the Charts. So he just needs to do it a little more often to get the Grail at one point or another...

1989...here she is once again back in her comfort zone. On this one it will pay off in any case given the level of success achieved in the Charts...

1990...new luxury cover this time on Aretha Franklin's title dating from 1973. A revisited version which will give her her one and only global success but at least it's done !

1990...a sequel which will not be able to compete with the previous title but there is no need to worry about her at this stage, that's for sure...

1992...the proof with this title ! A title which will remain as his biggest success in the United States and which also allows her to gain direct entry into the musical Pantheon of the end of the 20th century. Certainly through the back door but all the same...

1992...unfortunately the rest will prove to be a little more complicated to manage than expected. This title will already be her last success on the Singles side...

1992...she will succeed in saving the furniture on the albums side but really only just. The best years are now well and truly behind...

1992...afterwards what is taken is no longer to be taken as they say. The main thing is done and everything else is just a bonus, or at least that's what she has to admit at this point...

1993...she pays homage here to Billie Holiday, an opus of considerable interest but which will unfortunately go somewhat under the radar...

1993...at least she will have had fun on this one. Covering standards of this caliber is never a trivial thing...

1997...we could have imagined that this trio would spark but the result will remain of average level even if it is not devoid of interest, far from it...

1997...that in no way prevents her from continuing the adventure whatever happens. A desire to believe in it until the end which is a pleasure to see...

2001...here she is embarking on her 3rd decade of career, which is no small thing in itself. A desire to believe in it until the end that we can only salute...

2001...anyway as long as the albums work why throw in the towel prematurely. The basic fans are still there and don't intend to give up...

2001...neither did she. She will go as far as she can and it doesn't matter whether there is success or not as long as she enjoys it...

2006...of course we will lose sight of her for almost 5 years but here she is again regardless. She is taking her time now and moving forward at her own speed, quietly but surely...

2006...and on principle who would blame her ? Everyone leads their career as they wish and, above all, if possible, with a minimum of pressure...

2008...she will release 3 albums during this 2000 decade alone, which is no small thing. This also shows that she still believes in it...

2008...nothing extraordinary of course but good work whatever and which is recognized at its fair value by those who continue to follow her...

2015...well this time we will still lose sight of her for almost 7 years. But here she is again...

2019...we're not going to lie, things are seriously starting to get complicated. A 2010 decade that really sees her struggling...

2022...she will still attempt the transition to the next decade, which is still quite a gamble given the previous decade, which was disappointing to say the least...

2022...so last title or not ? Good question and only her can possibly answer it. This is what we call a case to follow - or not - ...
