Tony Carey, whose real name is Anthony Carrey, is an American singer-songwriter who really started his career by founding a first group called 'Blessings' at the age of 17, a group which never managed to finalize the album on which he was working…
And it is precisely during a recording session for the album that he will come across by chance in the same studio Ritchie Blackmore, of 'Deep Purple', who is in the process of auditioning future members of his new group 'Rainbow'. Which offers him to join the group, something he will accept.
He will thus participate in the album “Rising” which will be released in 1976, an album with certain success and which will allow young Anthony to pass the level of recognition on which he has stumbled since his beginnings.
Group that he left the following year in 1977 to go solo, a solo debut strongly hampered by serious health problems due to his overconsumption of drugs...
His first official production, namely the album “In the absence of the cat”, was released only 5 years later in 1982 and went somewhat unnoticed. Which is not the case for the following album “I won’t be home tonight”, an album this time classified and which will produce the high-caliber Single “West coast summer nights”.
From 1983 he simultaneously started the concept-project Planet P Project, a concept-project with which he released a first eponymous opus that year. Opus which will produce two major Singles : “Why me” and “Static”.
New solo album “Some thought city” and new opus “Pink world” for his concept project the following year in 1984. The album will mainly produce the successful Singles “A fine fine day” and “The firt day of summer » and the opus will produce the hit Single “What I see”.
The solo album “Blue Highway” which was released a year later in 1985 would do less well than its predecessor and would above all be a harbinger of the fact that the artist would have reached the peak of his career in the previous years.
He would produce other albums later, but none would allow him to be talked about as favorably as previously.
