The House Of Love is an English band formed in London in 1986 and originally consisting of Guy Chadwick, Pete Evans, Terry Bickers, Andrea Heukamp and Chris Groothuizen.
Group which signed with the Creation Records label shortly after, a label with which they produced a first Single called “Shine on” in 1987. Single which will go somewhat unnoticed unfortunately…
They had to wait until the following year and the release of the Single “Christine” in 1988 to achieve their first success. Success limited exclusively to the United States but success all the same.
A title that we will find on their first eponymous album which will also be released the same year.
The year 1989 saw the release of 2 major Singles with “Never” but also, and above all, “I don’t know why I love you”. Two Singles that we will find on the album “The butterfly album”, an album which will be released the following year in 1990 and which above all offers the group its first notable success on the albums side.
A prosperous period for the group but which also saw several members slip into alcohol consumption and drugs in a completely uncontrolled manner, not to mention strong disagreements between certain members but also with the production team...
It was a somewhat reworked group that produced the new album “Babe Rainbow” in 1992, an album with less success than its predecessor but which still managed to produce the high-calibre Single “You don’t understand”.
A major success which will unfortunately be the last because everything that comes out subsequently will only have a limited level of success.
