Spear Of Destiny is an English group formed in 1983 by Kirk Brandon and Stan Stammers. Which will be joined quickly by Chris Bell and Lascelles James.
The group released their debut album "Grapes of Wrath" the same year, an album which was to be highly regarded, notably thanks to the titles "Flying Scotsman" and "The wheel".
Success confirmed and amplified the following year in 1984 with the release of the album "One eyed Jacks". Album whose flagship Singles will be "Prisoner of love" and "Liberator".
An inexorable rise in power which allowed the group to achieve consecration during the year 1985 with the release of the album "World service". Album which will remain as the best ranked of all but which, paradoxically, will not allow the group to reach Nirvana on the Singles side ...
It was not until 1987 and the release of the album "Outland" to see the group achieve their biggest Singles success with the track "Never take me alive".
New album "The price you pay" a year later in 1988, album which will be the last major success of the group and whose flagship Single will be "So in love with you".
All the albums that were released subsequently would only experience very relative success, resulting in a gradual disappearance from the radar.
Which will not prevent the group from continuing to produce titles of significant quality in the years and decades that follow.

1983 ... a year 1983 which confirms the underlying trend with a second success in the wake. The group has a talent more than obvious which asks only to be expressed !
1984 ... admittedly, the group will never reach the Top10 of Charts but its level is largely sufficient to appear in the big league, it is clear
1984 ... there is talent in this group, that's clear. But they will never find the little + that could have taken them to the top of the mountain. Frankly shame ...
1985 ... they will stay for most of their careers in the middle of the Charts rankings. For want of having found the sound that could have set them apart from the crowd ...

1987 ... it is with THIS title that they will obtain a semblance of consecration. They sign here in any case the biggest title of all their discography on the success side in the Charts and thus enter by the back door in the musical legend of the 80s. It is always that !
1987 ... a plethora of titles in this year 1987, a year which will undoubtedly remain as the best vintage of the group. Nothing fancy but a good job !
1987 ... the pass of 4 ! In addition, in Intimist mode, an area they had explored very little until then. And the least we can say is that they are far from ridiculous !
1988 ... an end of the adventure looming, slowly but surely, on the horizon. The group will not remain as the best known of all but does not have to be ashamed of its discography, far from it ...
1988 ... the last title classified. The group ended in style in a year 1988 which saw them align 2 titles of certain quality. What more !
1992 ... come on, the adventure is not quite over. Especially when you see the quality of what they continue to produce, it would be wrong to hide this kind of titles !
1992...the adventure is over at the highest level, but certainly not definitively. Because the group still has a lot of things to offer at first sight...
1992...they are not going to throw in the towel after only 10 years of career, that much is clear. And it doesn't matter if there is success or not..
1997...certainly the level of productivity will fall severely during this decade of the 90s but here they are again regardless...
1997...on the other hand the big problem with them now is that they have completely reoriented their sound and their style which will not facilitate a return to the front of the stage...
1997...the fact of moving to a much more punchy style made them lose a lot of early fans and they will never get them back unfortunately...
1999...a 90s decade which will have seen them gradually disappear from the radar and this in an irreversible way. Which won't stop them from coming back for the next decade...
2000...here they are again, ready to begin this new decade of 2000 with the firm intention of not giving up. This necessarily starts from a good feeling at the base...
2000... after that, they will still have to ask themselves the right questions at some point, in particular whether it's worth it to continue the adventure in such a confidential way...?
2000...for the moment in any case it doesn't seem to bother them anymore. As long as they enjoy what they do why change anything...
2003...having fun is good but we must not forget that we need an audience to listen to what we produce. And the public has really shrunk in recent years...
