Cheap Trick is an American band formed in 1973 in Rockford and originally consisting of Rick Nielsen, Tom Petersson, Robin Zander and Bun E. Carlos. A group that can boast of having sold no less than 20 million records to date, just that…
Group which took no less than 3 years before signing in 1976 with the Epic Records label, a label with which they produced a year later in 1977 a first eponymous album. Album with great success but which unfortunately will not produce a hit worthy of the name...
The album “In color”, which was released a year later in 1977, already had a slightly more favorable destiny without also succeeding in producing a high-calibre Single…
It was the turn of the album “Heaven Tonight” to be released the following year in 1978, an album which confirmed the group’s obvious rise to power. Not only will the group be a hit during their tour organized in Japan that year, but they will finally succeed in breaking through internationally with the enormous title “Surrender”.
A tour in Japan which allowed them to release a Live album from their tour in 1979, an album which was a real global hit and produced one of their biggest tracks on the Singles side with the title “I want you to want me”. An exceptional year 1979 for the group since they also released a new studio album “Dream Police”, an album which will quite simply remain as the highest ranked in their entire discography and which will produce the enormous Single which bears the name of the album.
At the rate of one album per year, it was the turn of the album “All shook up” to be released in 1980, an album with much less success than its predecessor and which narrowly escaped thanks to the title “ Stop this game.”
They will straighten their heads a little with the following album “One on one” which will be released two years later in 1982 and which will produce the flagship Single “If you want my love”.
Unfortunately, there was a big setback with the albums “Next position please” in 1983, “Standing on the edge” in 1985 and “The doctor” in 1986, three albums with very relative success…
While we thought they were definitely lost, they came back in force in 1988 with the enormous album "lap of luxury", an album with 3 top hits : "The flame", "Don't be cruel" and "Ghost town".
New album “Busted” two years later in 1990, an album with less success but significant success all the same and which especially produced their last major hit with the title “Can’t stop fallin’ into love”.
The adventure will not stop there, far from it, but everything that comes out afterwards will in no way experience the level of extreme success reached at the end of the 70s.

Tracks :
1977...a first title which clearly shows that this group has potential. It now remains to be seen what exactly he will do with this famous potential...
1977...a potential which will begin to pay off with this first classified title. Certainly only in Canada but that's it as they say. Except that the same title will be released in 1979 and there the success will be much greater !
1977...they released no less than 2 albums during this year alone, 1977, with a flattering run in the Charts to say the least. An ideal career start to say the least...
1977...a particularly successful start to their career which de facto positions them as one of the big revelations of the moment, in an incontestable way...
1977...now they will have to confirm in the long term and especially on the fact that the success encountered was due to everything except chance...
1978...they will masterfully prove with this title that their success was due to everything except chance. Given the level of success achieved by this title, no one will doubt their ability to perform at the highest level...
1978...a sequel which rhymes with a luxury revival with this revisited version of the Move title dating from 1972. Revisited version with the most modest success unfortunately...
1979...new luxury cover this time of the Fats Domino title dating from 1955. Luxury cover which will bring them significantly more than the previous one...
1979...a year 1979 which saw them string together top hits at a most impressive speed. In just 2 years the group will have established himself as one of the leading groups of the moment...
1979...a year 1979 which will undoubtedly remain one of their best vintages. Everything works out like magic...
1980...the decade begins with this new title which will only be released in England, hence a level of influence which is necessarily very limited...
1980...same for this one which will only be released in the Netherlands. A title release strategy that is surprising to say the least, especially counterproductive...
1980...it was their participation in the soundtrack of the film 'Roadie' which allowed them to get back into the race. We are not talking about a triumphant return but there is a return all the same...
1980...they decide to revisit the Beatles' title from 1965 here and unfortunately the result will not really be what they did best...
1980...it's better that they focus on the production of original titles, an area which is much more successful for them, that's for sure...
1980...another title which will only be released in one country, this time Japan. Who says single country necessarily means very limited success...
1980...a start to the decade which saw them struggling somewhat. They will therefore have to pull themselves together and quickly, otherwise the exit door risks arriving faster than expected...
1981...new participation in a soundtrack this time for the film 'Heavy metal'. A participation which will be significantly less well rewarded than on their previous soundtrack...
1982...they will ask themselves the right questions at first glance because here they are back in this year 1982 in a form that we will describe as certain. Certain to the point of giving them one of their biggest successes !
1982...another targeted single country release. This time it is the Netherlands which will benefit with a significant success for the group, at least in this country...
1982...only one title will have been massively popular with the public because for the others the success will have been more limited. Hard law of the trade...
1982...this one will almost pass under the radar which is not done to reassure about the future of events. Attention danger...
1983...new soundtrack this time for the film 'Spring break'. Even at this level nothing is going well with them, so there is really reason to worry...
1983...a year 1983 which will not stay as their best vintage, that's clear. Everything that comes out this year will go unnoticed to say the least...
1983...fortunately the albums continue to sell more or less because otherwise the group would have reason to have the biggest fears about its future...
1983...new release targeted at the Netherlands only, this time with a result in the Charts close to absolute zero...
1984...new soundtrack this time for the film 'Up the creek' with a slightly more positive result in the Charts. Finally...
1985...a glimmer of hope is reborn with this new title. New title which finally allows them to reappear somewhat in the Singles Charts...
1985...we would have hoped that this return would be lasting but unfortunately this will not be the case. Another title that will go under the radar, one more...
1985...same for this one. All the lights have now turned orange and the group will really have to ask himself the right questions and quickly...
1986...we will even find them on this legendary soundtrack but they will be among the only ones not to benefit from the phenomenal success of this film and this soundtrack...
1986...definitely nothing is going well on the planet Cheap Trick because none of the titles that will be released during this new year 1986 will benefit them in any way...
1986...the group is really at the bottom of the wave in the middle of the 80s and close, even very close to an early exit from the road...
1988...then THE miracle happens ! New opus at the end of the decade and return to the forefront in a resounding way to say the least...
1988...which shows that in music you should never give up, the proof ! While we thought they were at the end of their adventure, they will deliver here what will remain as one of their best opuses. HU-GE !
1988...not many people were banking on them and yet they managed to show spectacularly that they would still have to be counted on in the years to come !
1988...a huge year 1988 with a succession of very high caliber successes. The group knew how to reinvent himself as necessary and as they should have done long before...
1988...afterwards it's never too late to turn things around as they say. They took a while to do it but it's well and truly done...
1988...new soundtrack this time for the film 'Another way'. They will have multiplied their appearances in the soundtracks but very few will have been successful...
1990...they begin this new 90s here with the firm intention of not giving up and above all continuing to prove that they have their place at the highest level...
1990...for now the group has reason to hope for the future and so do their core fans. It now remains to be seen whether this return to the highest level will last...
1990...even if this year 1990 will be particularly favorable to them, not all the titles that will be released will benefit from the same enthusiasm from the public. This one will unfortunately pay the price...
1990...this one narrowly escaped but will still be classified in the end. The essential being preserved, they will now have to concentrate on the rest of the events...
1991...they decide to revisit here a new Beatles title and this time will be this 'Magical mystery tour' dating from 1967. And as with their previous cover, the success will be very limited...
1994...we find them 3 years later in relative form. Relative but enough to remind us that they still exist...
1994...unfortunately the success was short-lived and the other titles which were released during this year 1994 will hardly be rewarded up to their merits...
1994...it is clear that the competition has taken a few steps ahead and the group seriously begins to lose ground on the best of the moment...
1994...afterwards we cannot say that they did not put good will into it but good will is no longer enough at this stage...
1994...the group will really have to evolve its fundamentals to stick a little more to the times, otherwise the end of the adventure could be on the horizon...
1995...here they decide to pay homage to John Lennon through this revisited version of his title dating from 1969. It starts with a good feeling but it won't pay off more than that in the end...
1997...they will manage to bounce back thanks to this new title but it will indeed be the last time that they will manage to do so...
1997...because the rest will be much more complicated to manage than expected with an almost definitive disappearance of the Singles Charts...
1997...they barely got by thanks to albums sales but it will only be the albums that will allow them to stay afloat at least...
1997...it must be said that the fact of not succeeding in reinventing himself during this 90s decade will not necessarily have helped, that's for sure...
1999...and one more soundtrack, one ! They will have done a lot but few will have allowed them to shine more than that, it is clear...
2003...they will try to move to the 2000s but what no longer worked during the 90s will no longer work during this new decade...
2003...after that, that doesn't stop them from continuing the adventure as far as possible. A desire to believe in it until the end which undoubtedly commands respect...
2003...it must be said that as long as albums continue to sell why would they need to throw in the towel ? And in principle they are absolutely right...
2006...as long as there is a sufficient base of basic fans to continue to follow them it is certain that the adventure is worth continuing...
2006...and there are still a good number of core fans left at first glance. So we might as well please them as best we can with the release of new opuses...
2006...we still have to remember that they started their career in 1977 which is starting to be quite a few years, we can't deny it...
2009...in the special soundtrack series here comes now the one for 'Transformers'. As with the previous ones, this one will go somewhat unnoticed...
2009...it doesn't matter if it was successful or not at first glance because they decided to move on to the next decade. And it could be that it will be much more favorable to them...
2015...of course they will take 6 years to come back but it was well worth it given the level of success that this new opus will achieve...
2016...so in music nothing is ever finished. They were right to hang on because history proved them right in the end...
2017...they will finally have been able to question themselves properly and reinvent themselves in a way that is at least visible. All good, little guys !
2017...on the Charts Singles side there won't really be a miracle but regardless the return to the race is indeed effective...
2017...certainly at the back of the pack but they still managed to show with certainty that they still exist and that they still have quality things to offer...
2017...still exceptional longevity for a group among the most gifted of its generation because only the best manage to last that long...
2017...who could have imagined that we would find them at some point in Christmas Album mode ? And yet this will indeed be the case in this year 2017...
2017...and I'm sure their rock versions of Christmas standards won't be that ridiculous. Like what...
2017...certainly the album will go somewhat unnoticed but they will have at least tried. It must be said that at the end of the year an army of special Christmas albums are released, hence a certain difficulty in emerging among the masses...
2018...an adventure that is not yet over in any case, the proof with this new title. And this to the delight of the fans once again...
2019...it now remains to be seen whether they will succeed in moving on to the next decade and especially under what conditions. It won't be long before we know...
2020...they will have gone through the 70s, then the 80s, then the 90s, then the 2000s, then the 2010s and here they are at the gates of the 2020s. Quite a journey as they say !
2021...they will even allow themselves the luxury of releasing a new opus at the very beginning of the 2020 decade. New opus with significant success...
2021...this can only encourage them once again to continue as far as possible. So we imagine that we will find them again at one point or another...
