On down the line...

Patty Loveless, whose real name is Patricia Ramey, is an American singer-songwriter who really began her artistic career in 1985 by signing with the MCA Records label.

Label with which she released a first Single “Lonely days, lonely nights” the same year, a Single which gave her great success and above all allowed her to make herself known.

Success confirmed and amplified the following year with the release in 1986 of the title “Wicked ways”, a Single which will allow her to increase her fame throughout the North American sphere.

Then it was the turn of the Singles “I did” and “After all” to find favor with the public a year later in 1987, two titles that we would find on her first eponymous album which would also be released the same year.

New album “If my heart had windows” in 1988, an album which allows the singer to gain momentum slowly but surely, notably thanks to the title “A little bit in love”. A year 1988 which even saw the release of a second album “Honky Tonk angel”, an album which would produce two flagship Singles the following year with “Timber, I’m falling in love” and “Chains”.

Slight deceleration the following year in 1990 with the album “On down the line”, an album which did less well than its predecessor and which narrowly escaped with the title which bears the name of the album.

Until then classified only in the Country Charts, the singer will succeed in classifying a first album "Up against my heart" in the so-called traditional Charts in 1991. Unfortunately the Singles which will be extracted will only be classified conversely only in the Charts Country.

Change of label from 1994 and move to Epic Records, label with which she released a first album “Only what I feel”, album carried at arm's length by the Single “Blame it in your heart”.

A change of label which was particularly successful for her since the following album “When fallen angels fly” gave her one of her biggest album successes in 1994. Ditto for the following “The trouble with the truth” which was released 2 years later in 1996, an album which would produce 2 huge Singles with the titles “You can feel bad” and “Lonely too long”.

New album “Long stretch of lonesome” the following year in 1997, an album which confirmed the status of the singer as a phenomenon of the moment.

A second part of the 90s which saw her at the best of her form with the release in 1999 of the title “I can’t get enough”, her first Single to appear in the ranking of the so-called traditional Charts. She repeated the feat in 2000 with the single “That’s the kind of mood I’m in” and “Lovin’ all night” in 2003.

Major successes which will be the last at least on the Singles side because the adventure will continue to be good on the albums side in the years that follow.

Tracks :

1985...first title and already first success. Certainly only in the Country Charts but that is also its core target so nothing unusual...

1986...her fame is spreading across the entire North American continent and making her one of the great revelations of the moment in the Country register...

1987...a pretty ballad to show that she can also do it with finesse. A versatility of styles which will inevitably help later...

1987...a year 1987 undoubtedly placed under the sign of finesse and the 'emotional' register. Who would complain about that...

1987...and 3 ! This year 1987 will have passed slowly, quietly but surely and it will have shown all the potential of the singer in the Intimist register...

1988...here she is in luxury cover mode on this revisited version of Georges Jones' title dating from 1967. All once again in finesse and lightness mode...

1988...it was with this title that she came close to the top of Charts. A linear rise in power necessarily heralds great things to come...

1988...a year 1988 which rhymes with a clear acceleration of the tempo just to vary the pleasures. Excellent initiative as they say...

1989...new luxury cover this time of the Lone Justice title dating from 1985. A copy which will surpass the original in terms of public recognition...

1989...this time she will reach the top places in the Charts throughout the North American continent. Just consecration as they say...

1989...of course we are still talking about Charts Country but for now she will have to settle for it which suits her very well at this stage...

1989...a year 1989 which saw her take a second pole position which is no small thing. Obviously a good omen for the future of events...

1990...a new decade which starts a slight notch lower but there is no need to worry about her at this stage...

1990...she decides to revisit Lucinda Williams' title from the previous year. Once again the copy will surpass the original in terms of success in the Charts...

1991...a more than obvious evolution of style and sound at the start of the 90s. Mandatory evolution if it wants to finally be classified in the so-called traditional Charts...

1991...an evolution that does not occur on all titles at first glance. Here she finds her fundamentals and returns directly to her comfort zone...

1991...a shame because when she wants she can very well mix Country influences and more modern influences. The proof with this new title...

1992...but suddenly everyone gets lost, both the early fans and the new audience that she managed to attract. She's Country, she's Rock, people don't know where to place her anymore...

1992...especially since she constantly alternates between a return to fundamentals and attempts at notable developments. You'll have to choose at some point...

1992...a third title which rhymes with a duo of shock and charm. Might as well combine business with pleasure as they say...

1993...after a somewhat sluggish start to the decade, here she manages to raise the bar spectacularly with a return to the top of the Charts. Phew...

1993...she still managed in the end to classify her new opuses in the so-called official Charts. Certainly at the bottom of the scale but still...

1993...a deserved global recognition when we take her entire discography because the quality will have been present on almost all her released titles...

1994...a year 1994 which will undoubtedly remain her best vintage. Better ranking on the Albums Charts side and good performances on the Singles rankings. What more !

1994...she reached the peak of her career almost 10 years after her debut. A well-deserved recognition for one of the figures of Country...

1994...it now remains to be seen what she intends to offer for the next 10 years : continuity or notable evolution ? Only her knows the answer...

1995...for now she is enjoying the present moment and doesn't ask herself any more questions than that. Rightly or wrongly, that's something else...

1995...no significant developments to be expected in the short term at first glance. She prefers to stay in her comfort zone as much as possible...

1996...we therefore risk ending the decade still on the same register. On the other hand, it's not the core fans who will complain about it...

1996...an Intimist register which has always been one of her favorite areas with achievements always up to par...

1996...most of her biggest hits will have been produced in this area and it is certain that there will be others, we do not doubt it for a second...

1996...a good year 1996 which saw her stay in the leading pack without too much trouble. Let's hope it lasts as they say...

1997...what is certain, however, is that she has still not managed to score a hit in the so-called official Charts. Patience, patience...

1997...she had rarely played it in duo mode and she is going to try the bet on this title in particular. Nice try but the result won't really be what you expected...

1998...the level of production of titles remains high to say the least and can only reassure about the future of events...

1998...even if this year 1998 will not stay as her best year, it is clear that she does not intend to stop there at first glance...

1998...as long as she manages to maintain a minimum quality level there is no reason to worry about the future of events concerning her...

1999...especially since she will finally succeed with this title what she had not managed to do until then, that is to say classify a title in the official Charts. It’s now done !

1999...she tries duo mode again but it won't work any more than the previous one. There is certainly success but we are far, very far from the duo of the year...

2000...a new decade which allows her to show in a very good way that we will still have to count on her in the years to come...

2000...it now remains to be seen what this new decade has in store for her : slow but irreversible deceleration or maintaining the same level ? The future will tell us...

2001...the deceleration seems to be beginning since this title will go somewhat under the radar. Simple warning or underlying trend not to be underestimated, good question...

2001...a very beginning of the decade which saw her struggling somewhat despite an obvious desire to do well. Years ago like that...

2002...new duo and same result as for the previous ones, that is to say a very limited level of success. When it doesn't want to, it doesn't want to...

2002...here she is in Christmas album mode and my faith in this very particular register she is far from unworthy. Nothing very original but good work as they say...

2002...we will be largely satisfied with it in any case. Afterwards when Christmas albums start to come out it's never a good sign in an artist's career...

2003...it's a luxury cover of Rodney Crowell's title dating from 1992 which will allow her to return to the race. For how long, good question...

2003...whatever the year 2003 allowed her to demonstrate that in music nothing is ever finished. The essential is therefore preserved...

2004...the last ranked title. And yes this time the singer seems to have indeed come to the end of her career at the highest level...

2005...the adventure will continue but with a much lower level of success. Only the albums will continue to be classified a little...

2005...most of his new titles will go under the radar and few will be released as Singles. Hard law of the trade as they say...

2005...we will therefore highlight certain titles not released as Singles but which deserved to be. It's only justice...

2008...this title will be the only official title of this new opus. A title which will go somewhat unnoticed like those which preceded it unfortunately...

2008...the others will therefore be 'brought to light' titles. A deserved spotlight for this title full of finesse and lightness...

2008...this one will not have benefited from any lighting worthy of the name and yet it is far from unworthy, that's clear...

2009...a decade of the 2000s which saw her manage to stay afloat on the sales side of albums but simply disappear from the Charts on the Singles side...

2009...a possible transition to the next decade will therefore require a mandatory reconsideration, otherwise the final exit door risks opening faster than expected...

2009...whatever happens, she will always be able to boast of having lasted 2 decades with a certain number of successes to boot. More than flattering results...

2010...a title which will be released for a particular event and which will therefore benefit from limited exposure to say the least. It remains to be seen whether she will have the courage to come back later - or not - ...
