Yazoo is an English duo formed in 1981 in Basildon by Vince Clarke, ex Depeche Mode and Alison Moyet.
Their first success comes with the single "Only you" released in 1982 which directly ranks N ° 2 in the Top English singles. Shortly followed by the album "Upstairs at Eric’s".
But it is the second single, the now cult "Don’t go", which will explode their notoriety and make them planetary stars. Single with its particular and incredibly captivating sound.
Two other singles were released the same year, "Situation" and "The other side of love", which had a more than honorable journey.
Thereafter, the tensions within the "couple" become more and more numerous to the point that the second album is recorded almost without the 2 meeting in the recording studio.
The album "You and me both" was released on the forceps in 1983 and despite this was a notable success. Album from which will be extracted the excellent "Nobody’s diary" which also ended in the summits of the Charts.
Unfortunately, Alison Moyet decides to leave the boat prematurely making this title the last major success of this ephemeral but oh so talented duo.
And who will have left in history one of the biggest Dance hits of the 80s.
