Junior, whose real name is Norman Giscombe, is an English singer-songwriter who started his artistic career by playing backing vocals between 1980 and 1982 for the group Linx.
He released his first solo single "Get up and dance" in 1981, a single that went completely unnoticed. On the other hand, the following single, it will make its glory and its fortune. In fact, "Mama used to say" was released in the aftermath, a huge single that would literally shatter everything in its path and become one of the biggest dance hits of the decade.
Success was confirmed the following year in 1982 when the album "Ji" was released. Album from which another hit will be extracted with the single "Too late", a single which will not know the staggering level of success of the previous one but will largely pull out of the game.
The singer will have other minor successes with titles like "Communication breakdown" in 1983, "Somebody" in 1984 and "Oh Louise" in 1986, but it will never find the same level of success which it will have known during the year 1981.

1981 ... a first title to break in and above all prepare a sequel that promises to be super. It's impossible at this point to imagine that the next upcoming title will literally set fire to all the Dancefloor on the planet ...
1982 ... and the famous title, here it is. Here he signs quite simply the biggest success of all his discography and one of the biggest dance hits of the end of the 20th century. MAS-TER-FUL !
1982 ... as very often in these cases there, the continuation can absolutely not compete. And even if it is of quality, the singer will never manage to repeat the feat
1982 ... BIG year 1982 with no less than 3 titles on the clock. But the quality level fluctuates considerably between the different pieces, it is clear ...
1983 ... 1983 starts again on Dance bases but it is clear that the level has nothing to do with 'Mama used to say' ...
1983 ... as in any good self-respecting discography, there is inevitably the Intimist song which goes well. For him, it will be this one !
1984 ... a single-title year but a year of high energy. There is a semblance of inspiration on the Dance side. Certainly, we are far from the top of the Charts but the work is of quality
1985 ... we can not say that there is no will to do well but faced with a much more inspired competition, it is necessarily very difficult to stay afloat
1986 ... we will put this title there rather in the good surprises. But the years go by and the gap with the competition is more and more obvious ...
1986 ... his last notorious hit. Anything that will come out later will only have limited success, if at all
1986 ... suddenly, it works on the other side of the Atlantic, once across the Channel, rarely both at the same time. Go figure ...
1987 ... he hangs on, resists and continues his adventure for whatever reason. The quantity is there, the quality is something else ...
1987 ... a shocking duo, and above all charming, on a track that works rather well. And which offers the 2 protagonists a nice success across the Channel
1990 ... the end of the 1980s did not bring much more, we find him at the beginning of the new 1990s. The sound has evolved, of course. But that is still not enough to put him back in the race ...
1992 ... his best title of the decade. Success will be rare during this decade, so we must appreciate them at their fair value ...
1997 ... a collaboration with the new generation which works quite well. An adventure that is drawing to a close and that we would have liked more brilliant. Unfortunately, this was not the case ...
