Roxy Music is an English group formed in 1971 by Bryan Ferry and Graham Simpson.
It was the journalist Richard Williams of the "Melody maker" who first became interested in this emerging group and wrote an article to extol their merits.
The first album, named after the group, was released in 1972 and was an immediate success.
In particular the very first Single "Virginia plain" which ranks in the top 5 of English Charts.
In 1973 the album "For your pleasure" was released with relative success from which no Single was released.
Shortly followed by the album "Stranded" from which the hit "Street life" will be extracted.
In 1974, the album "Country life" was released and was the group's first album to enter the American Top40.
Album which will be praised by critics. Follows the 1975 album "Siren" which contains the hit "Love is the drug".
1976 will be marked by a solo parenthesis by Bryan Ferry.
Bracket that will last 2 years.
The reunited group went back to the studios in 1978 to give birth to the album "Manifesto".
Album with 3 Singles, 2 of which will hit home : "Angel eyes" and "Dance away".
1980 will be a great year for the group with the release of the album "Flesh + blood" which will produce 3 major hits such as "Oh yeah", ‘Over you" and "Same old scene".
And this in particular thanks to an evolution in the sound of the group.
In 1981, only the now cult Single "Jealous guy" was released.
The year of the consecration will be the year 1982 with the album "Avalon", which will be their biggest commercial success and from which will be extracted the Single hit of the same name but especially the enormous "More than this".
The adventure ended in 1983 after Bryan Ferry decided to dissolve the group to embark on a solo career.
Ending the existence of a group that will have left a significant mark in the musical history of the 80s, thanks in particular to the natural class and the charisma of its emblematic leader.
