Like a light and subtle taste of honey...
A Taste of Honey is an American group formed in 1971 by two partners, Janice-Marie Johnson and Perry Kibble. Quickly joined by Carlita Dorhan and Donal Ray Johnson.
Six years will pass before they are noticed by the label Capitol Records, label which will allow them to release their first single in 1978.
First single called "Boogie Oogie Oogie", taken from their self-titled debut album. And which will make such a hit in the Charts to the point of remaining three consecutive weeks No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It will sell more than two million copies !
The singles which will follow, "Di it good" in 1979 and "Rescue me" in 1980, will have difficulty to compete in spite of an obvious quality.
Major success they found in 1981 with their cover of Kyu Sakamoto's track "Sukiyaki" on the album "Twice as sweet".
The year 1982 will be the year of their last flagship single "I’ll try something new", taken from the album "Ladies of the eighties", single which will make a very honorable run in the various charts.

1978 ... first title and planetary tidal wave, just that! The group simply signs here one of the biggest dance hits of the decade. A BIG title which propels them in a sensational way on the front of the stage and raises them One Shot to the rank of planetary stars. MAS-TER-FUL !
1978 ... a title that will not experience the incredible success of its predecessor. Like what, nothing is ever won in this environment ...
1979 ... this one won't do much better. After a startling career, to say the least, the group can not surf on the incredible dynamics generated by their first title ...
1979 ... this one is already a little more inspired. We were afraid but we avoided filing for bankruptcy. It will still be necessary to seriously raise the level of play ...
1979 ... the group relapses directly with this title. Unfortunately, the upturn was short-lived. Attention danger...
1980 ... the group regains color with the change of decade. A change of decade that rhymes with rebirth !
1980 ... big caliber funk as we like. Better and better girls, this must continue ! A beginning of the 80s which inspires them at first sight ...
1981 ... here we are at the Ultimate Slow stage. And my gosh, the least we can say is that it holds up. A pretty Japanese-inspired ballad which definitively devotes them to the planetary level. MA-GIC !
1982 ... a piece once again very smooth to start the year 1982 in style. An obvious know-how in this field which only asked to be expressed !
1982 ... back to pure dance. The girls do not deserve, far from it but it is clear that the best years are now behind them ...
1982 ... a perfectly trendy sound that will not prevent this title from going totally under the radar. Sometimes you don't have to try to understand ...
1984 ... an adventure that ends with this title. One last 'little' hit to get out through the front door anyway. What more !
