A Taste of Honey is an American group formed in 1971 by two partners, Janice-Marie Johnson and Perry Kibble. Quickly joined by Carlita Dorhan and Donal Ray Johnson.
Six years will pass before they are noticed by the label Capitol Records, label which will allow them to release their first Single in 1978.
First Single called "Boogie Oogie Oogie", taken from their self-titled debut album. And which will make such a hit in the Charts to the point of remaining three consecutive weeks No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It will sell more than two million copies !
The Singles which will follow, "Di it good" in 1979 and "Rescue me" in 1980, will have difficulty to compete in spite of an obvious quality.
Major success they found in 1981 with their cover of Kyu Sakamoto's track "Sukiyaki" on the album "Twice as sweet".
The year 1982 will be the year of their last flagship Single "I’ll try something new", taken from the album "Ladies of the eighties", single which will make a very honorable run in the various charts.
