Just Sylvia...

Sylvia, whose real name is Sylvia Hutton, is a american singer-songwriter who started her career after signing in 1979 with the RCA Records label, a label that allowed her to release a first single "You don’t miss a thing". A first single to say the least successful since it allows her to obtain his first ranked title.

The beginning of the 80's saw her rise in power in a linear fashion with titles like "Tumbleweed" in 1980 followed by "Drifter" and "The matador" in 1981. A year 1981 which saw her release her first album "Drifter", album which meets with great success in the Charts.

But the recognition, the real one, arrived in 1982 with the enormous single "Nobody", the flagship single of his discography and which finally dedicated her to the planetary level. Title taken from the album "Just Sylvia" which came out the same year and which remains to this day the biggest success of all his discography on the album side.

The year 1983 saw the release of the album "Snapshot", an album of notorious success but which was unable to match the success achieved by the previous album. And who will especially be unable to produce a new world-class single.

Two other albums were released later, "Surprise" in 1984 and "One step closer" in 1985. Even if they had a nice run in the Charts, neither of the two will allow the singer to return to the top ...

To discover or rediscover.

Clips :

1979 ... the first particularly successful steps which saw the young singer obtain a first classified title. And paradoxically, in Country Charts ...

1980 ... of course, the Country style is much more pronounced on this title but the 80s, it is also this sound. All styles coexisted in perfect harmony, which is no longer really the case today ...

1980 ... in just 3 titles she will be imposed as one of the Country phenomena of the beginning of the decade. All in a style and a particularly successful sound, it is clear !

1981 ... success now spreads across North America. The rise in power is linear and is bound to produce something big at one point or another ...

1981 ... a BIG year 1981 with a plethora of titles and quality across the board. Admittedly, she remains confined in its field of predilection which is Country but it could be that she reserves us a nice surprise for the following year ...

1981 ... for now she continues to unroll quietly and continues hit after hit. Certainly, minor hits which are mainly due to the fact that her musical field is not really aimed at the general public ...

1981 ... a year 1981 which ends in the best possible way with this high class Intimist title. Even in this area, she masters. The mark of the Greatest !

1982 ... then THIS title comes ! She signs here quite simply the biggest success of her entire career and lands a well-deserved top hit. And this time, in the so-called traditional Charts. HU-GE !

1982 ... unfortunately the large-scale success was short-lived. She comes down from her pedestal as quickly as she climbed there. Hard law of the trade ...

1983 ... anyway, that does not prevent her from continuing her adventure as she sees fit. Rightly or wrongly, that's something else ...

1983 ... a new Intimist page of all beauty which shows a know-how in this field more than obvious. We want more !

1984 ... she manages to sign a new major title here which allows her to shine a little wider once again. But it will be the last time unfortunately ...

1985 ... here she is back in pure Country mode. A return to the fundamentals which will continue to isolate her a little more and which will never again allow her to become popular with the general public ...

1985 ... and the switch to duo mode will unfortunately not change the situation. Her style is now really too typical to hope for any miracle ...

1986 ... miracle which will not take place of course and which sees her disappear slowly, but surely, from the radars. With the end of the adventure looming on the horizon ...

1987 ... an end of adventure which rhymes with sweetness and finesse. What better way to end in style and exit through the front door as they say !
