Primal Scream is a Scottish band formed in 1982 in Glasgow and originally consisting of Bobby Gillespie, Jim Beattie, Robert Young and Tom McGurk.
Group which signed with the Creation Records label three years later in 1985, a label which allowed them to release a first Single "All fall down", a Single which unfortunately went somewhat unnoticed...
New Single “Crystal Crescent” the following year in 1986, a Single which will finally allow the group to achieve a first success, albeit minor, but a success all the same.
We will have to wait another year and the year 1987 to see the release of their first album “Sonic Flower Groove”, an album which confirms the rise of the group, despite bad reviews. All thanks to two high caliber titles : “Gentle tuesday” and “Imperial”.
New album “Primal scream” two years later in 1989, an album which once again was not spared from criticism and which only narrowly escaped thanks to the title “Ivy Ivy Ivy”.
It was the transition to the 90s and the release in 1990 of the title tracks “Loaded” and “Come together” which changed the situation somewhat with the achievement of two first global successes. Titles that we will find on the album “Screamaelica” the following year in 1991, an album which will produce a third very high caliber title “Movin’ on up” which will be released this time in 1992.
Success confirmed and especially amplified in 1994 with the release of the album “Give out but don’t give up” despite once again mixed reviews. Criticisms which did not prevent the title “Rocks” from becoming a real global hit and giving the group one of its biggest successes.
It is a group somewhat reorganized following strong internal tensions which will produce 3 years later in 1997 the album "Vanishing point", album which will prove de facto that the group is far from being in agony, particularly in through the hits “Star” and “Burning wheel” but also, and above all, “Kowalski”.
New successful album “XTRMNTR” in 2000, followed by “Evil heat” in 2002. But it was above all “Riot city blues” which brought them their last big success in 2006 with the title “Country girl”.
An adventure which will subsequently continue with the release of other albums and other Singles with a little more modest success unfortunately.

1985...a rather successful first title which augurs a very interesting continuation of his career. To be continued...
1985...the group has more than obvious potential, it is clear. It now remains to be seen what will be done with this potential in the years to come...
1986...we suspected that at some point the first laurels would fall and it is now done with this title...
1986...in just a few titles the group was able to show that he had everything it needed to reach the highest level. Obviously a good omen for the future of events...
1987...the year of takeoff. Of course we are not going to talk about a big takeoff but this time the group will succeed in passing the last level on which he has been stumbling since its beginnings...
1987...from now on all the titles that will be released will be classified. For the moment we are rather at the bottom of the scale but it will rise inexorably in the years to come...
1989...an 80s decade which saw them hatch and then move from shadow to light in a certain way. Now all that remains is to produce THE title that will finally honor them to the height of their merits...
1990...a new 90s decade which is starting in the best possible way with a success which will now extend to both sides of the Atlantic...
1990...the group's fame is spreading little by little and this can only reinforce the idea that they will end up producing THE title of global recognition at one point or another...
1991...it won't be for this year 1991 but we are certainly getting closer. Little by little, the bird builds its nest as they say...
1991...each new title that comes out brings them inexorably closer to the big final takeoff. They just need to find that little extra that will finally make all the difference...
1992...we will still have to give them a little more time to get there. But what is certain is that they are getting closer and closer...
1992...surprisingly this title will go somewhat unnoticed but there is no need to worry at this stage concerning them especially when we see what is on the horizon...
1992...an astonishing title which will not be released as a Single but which it would have been a shame to completely hide. Here it is brought back to light as it should be...
1994...then comes THIS title ! They have finally found the little extra that they were missing and they will prove it in a masterful way on this title. The title of planetary consecration and which at the same time offers them their direct ticket to posterity. HU-GE !
1994...we knew that it couldn't be otherwise and that they were going to end up getting the Grail at one point or another. It is now done...
1994...a year which will undoubtedly remain as their best vintage with a 1 mega hit and 2 top hits obtained in the same year. What ask for more !
1994...the group is on cloud nine and all is well in the best of all possible worlds. There are years like this where everything smiles as if by magic...
1996...then there are years where things don't necessarily go as we would like. The proof with this year 1996 which will not remain as their most glorious...
1997...fortunately business picked up again the following year and proved that the previous slight air hole was nothing to worry about at this stage...
1997...the group still has great resources and certainly does not intend to stop there. There will be other great achievements, that's for sure...
1997...a great year 1997 with quantity but also quality, which doesn't spoil anything, quite the contrary. Let's hope it lasts...
1998...new year in notch below. The group has difficulty maintaining himself at the highest level and spends its time yo-yoing in the Charts...
1999...we still imagine that they will try to move on to the next decade. It now remains to be seen with what musical project they intend to come back with...
2000... of course there will be a transition to the next decade but the group has gone into a slightly bizarre delirium and that will not help to retain the loyalty of the general public...
2000...whether in terms of style or sound, the least we can say is that this is not how the group risks reaching the top places in the Charts...
2002...the group is increasingly aimed at a restricted circle of initiates who necessarily share the same values and who especially like to push the madness a little further...
2002...it would already be a little better on this title. The big problem is that the group has scared away part of its audience with its latest releases...
2003...they decide to revisit here the title of Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood dating from 1967, all in the company of Kate Moss, an original choice to say the least. A daring choice but a winning choice on this one...
2006...few titles delivered in this first part of the 2000s but the few released will do more than well each time. What ask for more...
2006... after that it sure lasts like this for a long time. It could be that the years to come will be much less favorable to them...
2006...starting with this title which will go somewhat under the radar. Honestly a shame because the decade had started quite well...
2008...they are going to save the furniture with this title but it will indeed be the last time that the group will manage to classify a title...
2008...fortunately the albums continue to sell well otherwise there would really be reason to worry about the future of the group...
