Happy mondays...

Happy Mondays it's an English band formed in Salford in 1980 and originally composed of Shaun Ryder, Paul Ryder, Mark Day, Paul Davis and Gary Whelan.

Group which released a first single named "Forty five" in 1985, title which will unfortunately go completely unnoticed.

They will have to wait for the year 1987 and the release of the album "Squirrel and G-Man twenty four hour party people plastic face carnt smile (White out)" to record their first hits with the titles "Tartt art" and "24 hour party people".

Success confirmed and amplified a year later in 1988 with the album "Bummed", album which mainly produced the flagship singles "Lazyitis" and "W.F.L. (Wrote for luck)”.

But the real recognition came in 1990 with the release of the album "Pills‘ n 'thrills and bellyaches ". Album which remains to this day their most successful discographic album side but also side singles with the titles "Step on" and "Kinky afro".

Unfortunately, anything that will come out thereafter will not experience the success of previous years and the group will eventually separate in 1993.

To discover or rediscover.

Clips :

1987 ... after a first title released in 1986 and remained without a future, the group returns in this year 1987 in a certain form. Sufficient form in any case to obtain his first classified title ...

1987 ... a year 1987 which will not be remembered as their best vintage but which at least allows to finally make talk about them. It's already better than nothing as they say ...

1988 ... even if the level of success remains confined solely to independent Charts, the group is clearly gaining momentum. We can imagine that at one point or another, it will pay off ...

1989 ... the group finally manages to reach the big league with this title. Admittedly, the level remains confined once again to England but it starts to smell good all that. Even very good ...

1989 ... an inimitable style that is unlike any other. The problem in these cases is that it can serve as well as penalize ...

1989 ... a really special year 1989 with completely indefinable songs. We feel that there is potential in this group but that is expressed at least in a somewhat disconcerting way ...

1990 ... then THIS title comes ! It is this revisited version of the title of John Kongos dating from 1971 that will make the fortune and the glory of the group. With the key to a planetary top hit that offers them a direct ticket to posterity. HU-GE !

1990 ... an exceptional year in all respects for the group with this second top hit in the wake. Of course, smaller than the previous one but it doesn't matter as they say !

1991 ... a year 1991 which started again on almost the same bases as the year 1990. Almost near. But the 'near' will have its importance later ...

1991 ... a title that will only be released in the United States, hence a necessarily mixed ranking. An in-between before a continuation of adventure which promises to be much more complicated than expected ...

1991 ... success is in free fall and is now mainly limited to England. The group did not know how to negotiate the turn of the 90s as he should and he will pay a heavy price

1992 ... they will succeed in limiting the breakage during this year 1992 but the fall is now impossible to stop. Cruel reversal of fortune as they say ...

1992 ... the inspiration becomes minimalist and the group can no longer create the event. With the key to a gradual exit from the big leagues ...

1999 ... a free fall that will last 7 years. Here they are back in this year 1999 in a very relative form. In any case not enough to change anything in their slow but inexorable disappearance ...
