Throbbing Gristle, formed from the remnants of COUM Transmissions, is an English band formed in 1975 in Kingston upon Hull. The original lineup consisted of Genesis P-Orridge (real name Neil Megson), Cosey Fanni Tutti (real name Christine Newby), Peter Christopherson, and Chris Carter.
The band released their first album, "The Second Annual Report," two years later in 1977. Their first Single, "United," was released the following year in 1978.
This album, with its decidedly experimental music, was clearly aimed at a niche audience, as were their subsequent albums : "D.o.A.: The Third and Final Report of Throbbing Gristle," "20 Jazz Funk Greats," "Journey Through a Body," and "In the Shadow of the Sun." Four albums, released in 1978, 1979, 1982, and 1984 respectively.
The group returned in the early 2000s and produced more albums in their signature unconventional style.
Sensitive souls beware as they say.

Tracks :
1977...the trend is set from the very first tracks : this astonishing group is going to make astonishing music. We've been warned...
1977...it's clear that this kind of music is reserved, at the very least, for a select circle of initiates. Sensitive souls beware...
1978...a first Single that was a little more polished and a little more listenable, and which above all perfectly reflected the musical atmosphere of the very end of the decade...
1978... here, on the other hand, we're definitely in experimental territory and bordering on inaudible. It's going to be difficult for the group to get positive publicity with this kind of track...
1978...it's a little better with this one, but we shouldn't celebrate too soon, far from it. It's not certain that things will last very long like this...
1979...proof is in this new track which plunges us straight back into their acoustic escapades. A career start that was, to say the least, chaotic, at least musically speaking...
1979... well, it's clear things aren't getting any better, far from it. It's hard to understand the group's exact philosophy at this precise moment, but it's clear they're more into provocation than anything else...
1979...a new album that will seem almost normal compared to what they've released so far. Let's hope it lasts...
1979...we hope so, but we suspect it won't be the case. Because with them, at first glance, you have to expect anything. Absolutely anything...
1979...they are one of those unclassifiable groups that will appear at the end of the 20th century like UFOs and leave a truly unique mark. And that's an understatement...
1980... because here they are again, back at the start of the 80s, in their usual antics. We suspected that the previous interlude wouldn't last long...
1980...after that there's always an audience for everything, but this time it will be a very limited audience, and above all, a very knowledgeable one...
1980...after that, whatever one thinks of this kind of group, one must still accept the fact that they also have the right to be talked about...
1980... admittedly a minimum, but still. At least they tried to offer something, even if it's unlikely to attract the general public, that's clear...
1981...we're still very close to going off the rails. It's good to be creative and original, but there's a limit they often cross...
1982...whether playfully or provocatively, they will surpass it time and again regardless. But as always, all of this comes at a price...
1982...the price of marginality and therefore, by extension, of relative anonymity. Do they really seek success at any cost ? I doubt it...
1984...because if they were truly seeking it, they would certainly act very differently. What they love is provocation, and in this area, they excel, it must be said...
1986...one might have hoped that with the years they would calm down a little, but unfortunately that won't really be the case...
2004...we thought the matter was settled and that their adventure wouldn't extend beyond the mid-80s. We didn't know them very well...
2004...because here they are again almost 18 years later with the firm intention of picking up where they left off last time...
2007...and they've hardly changed anything compared to before. So it's hard to imagine why what they're offering today would appeal to a wider audience than it did in the 80s...
2007...after that, do they simply want to please their core fans ? It might stem from good intentions, but one imagines there aren't that many core fans left today...
2009...in any case, it doesn't bother them at all, and they tell themselves that every adventure is worth pursuing. And why not, you might say...
2009...so, their last title or not ? As with them, nothing is ever truly over at first glance, so it's possible we'll see them again in the years to come...
2024...and there they are again, just as expected. And nothing's changed, as always, still as crazy as ever..
2024...we can't remake them, as they say. But we'd like it if, since we're going to come back anyway, we might as well shake things up a bit, which doesn't really seem to be their deepest desire at first glance...
