Kansas is an American band formed in 1973 and originally composed of Steve Walsh, Robby Steinhardt, Kerry Livgren, Rich Williams, Dave Hope and Phil Ehart.
A group that released his eponymous debut album a year later in 1974, an album that unfortunately went somewhat unnoticed despite being classified. Ditto for "Song for America" and "Mask" in 1975 despite a much more favorable ranking ...
They will have to wait for the year 1976 and the release of the album "Leftoverture", album which will give them their first global hit with the title "Carry on wayward son".
Success confirmed and amplified the following year in 1977 with the release of the album "Point of know return", album which will sell more than 4 million copies in the United States alone and whose flagship Single will be "Dust in the wind". A Single that will be released a year later in 1978.
The rest of the adventure will get somewhat complicated with the half-hearted release of the album "Monolith", an album with certain success but which will be unable to produce any global hit.
And things really weren't going to get any better after that as the band released a number of albums during the 80s, 90s and 2000s but none of them enjoyed the success of the mid-70s albums.
They will experience a last major success with the Single "All I wanted" in 1986 but it will indeed be the last for the group.
