Brave new world...

The Bongos is an American band formed in 1980 and originally consisting of Richard Barone, Rob Norris, Frank Giannini and James Maestro.

Group who signed with the Fetish Records label the same year, label with which they released their first two Singles “Telephoto lens” and “In the congo”. Singles that will go somewhat unnoticed…

Which is not the case for “mambo sun”, a Single which was released a year later in 1981 and enjoyed great success in the United States.

First album “Drums along the Hudson” the following year in 1982, an album which would also be popular with the public but this time on both sides of the Atlantic.

Change of label in 1983 and arrived at RCA Records, label with which the group released the mini-album “Numbers with wings”. Mini-album which will mainly produce the 2 high caliber Singles “Numbers with wings” as well as “Barbarella”.

The group was preparing to release a new album called “Phantom Train” in 1987 when they suddenly decided to break up.

1980...a nice first title but which still shows that there is still a little work to do before they can hope to join the big leagues...

1980...afterwards, as they say, you have to start well one day. So we're going to give them a little more time to refine all that...

1981...it's a little better with this title but the count is still not there. They will therefore have to continue their efforts a little more...

1982...still no notable progression in this new year 1982. We will therefore have to be a little more patient...

1982...they still can't find the little extra that could make all the difference. Besides, will they find it one day, good question...

1982...we will therefore let the year 1982 end while waiting for better days as they say. We cannot say that they are unworthy, of course, but the level is still not sufficient at this stage...

1983...and the little extra that was missing, here it is finally ! It took them a while to find it but they did indeed find it, we have to admit...

1983...the improvement will not take place on all the titles but the main thing is that they have finally managed to pass this level on which they have stumbled since their beginnings...

1985...which will surely remain as their most accomplished title. In the end, the group's discography will be light to say the least but there will still have been some great achievements...

1985...a group which will not remain as the most talented of its generation but which certainly has nothing to be ashamed of what he was able to produce, that's for sure...

2013...a new opus which is coming out very late because it should have been released in the middle of the 80s. It's never too late to do well as they say...
