All because of you...

The Dramatics is an American group that was born in 1964 in Detroit and originally composed of Ron Banks, Larry Demps, Rod Davis, ELbert Wilkins and Larry Reed.

Group which will know a first success on the Singles side with the title "All because of you" in 1967. On the album side, they will have to wait another 4 years to achieve a first success with "Whatcha see is whatcha get" in 1971. Album which will remain as the highest ranked of their entire discography.

They will produce an impressive number of albums during the 70s and 80s and will obtain an equally impressive number of hits especially during the 70s. But none will gain major recognition except "In the rain" in 1972...

Be that as it may, in view of their entire discography, we had to devote this article to them.

To discover or rediscover.

Clips :

1963...a first title which will go somewhat unnoticed but which is not uninteresting, far from it. Rather promising beginnings as they say...

1965... still no title classified for the moment but the group displays a real potential and which only asks to show what it is capable of...

1967...their efforts will finally start to pay off with this title. They finally obtain a first classified title and manage at the same time to reach the big leagues...

1969...unfortunately, the upturn was short-lived. The group does not manage to confirm with this title all the good that one could think of him. Really unfortunate...

1971...but that's without counting on THIS title ! A title that will bring them back spectacularly to the forefront and above all, explode their notoriety overnight. The hard part is done as they say !

1971...and this time there is no relapse behind. The rocket has indeed taken off and does not intend to come back down to Earth anytime soon. We have been warned !

1972...and 2 ! The group signs a second hit of very high caliber with this title and imposes himself de facto as one of the phenomena of the moment. HU-GE !

1972...a talent for the Intimist which asserts itself more and more and which allows them above all to produce titles of more than obvious quality in this very particular field...

1973...since this musical domain is particularly successful for them, they return to it immediately. Afterwards, it would still be good for them to diversify a little bit to avoid boring the general public...

1973... they don't intend to change anything for the moment at first sight. It's reassuring to stay safe in your comfort zone, but that could inevitably end up marginalizing them...

1974...the years pass, just like the titles, but they remain braced on their Intimist fundamentals. Attention gentlemen you will end up getting bored...

1974...a warning they ignore. As long as the titles continue to rank they don't see why they should change anything...

1974...especially since when they finally decide to speed up the tempo, it doesn't pay them any more than that. Not really the kind of underperformance that could shake things up, that's for sure...

1975... therefore they take refuge directly where they feel most at ease. Unfortunately, even in this area the efforts made do not pay off as much as before...

1975... they are going to attack here the monument of Billy Paul dating from the year 1972, an extremely daring bet to say the least. Even if their version is not likely to match the original, it is not devoid of interest, that's for sure...

1975...rarely has a group produced so many so-called 'emotional' titles. On the other hand when you see, especially when you hear what they produce in this area, it would be a shame to ask them to stop...

1975... once again the proof with this title which shows that in this field they really excel. We will therefore be satisfied...

1975...and each time they try to get out of it, the sanction in the Charts is immediate. Sometimes you don't have to try to understand...

1975...the in-between could be an alternative solution to vary the pleasures. This half Dance-half Intimist is the perfect example...

1976...once again it is with a title full of finesse that the group will win a new star. There is nothing to do, only the Intimist register is able to satisfy their requirements as well as those of the general public...

1977...and here we go again in the 'emotional' register. There is nothing to do, we will not remake them again as they say. Too bad, too bad...

1978...the whole decade of the 70s will have been oriented in the same way in terms of tempo and sound. It would be nice if the band thought about changing both over the next decade...

1978... it is clear that for the moment nothing will change. But the change of decade will force them to question themselves in one way or another...

1978...so we're going to let them roll out to the next decade in whichever mode they feel best. We'll see if things change...

1979...a decade of the 70s which ended once again at the same tempo. A decade that will still have allowed them to show that they had talent and this on many occasions...

1980... they still haven't asked themselves the right questions at first sight because here they are again at the start of the 80s in the same musical mode. It continues to pay off, of course, but success is necessarily limited by an obvious lack of risk-taking...

1980...ah, finally ! This time we are not dreaming the tempo has indeed accelerated. We will have waited a long time for this essential evolution but it is now done...

1980...we shouldn't rejoice too quickly, the proof ! There is nothing to do, they have decided to stay in their comfort zone, whatever the price to pay in the Charts...

1982...it must be said that their few forays into the field of Dance will not have been rewarded as they could have hoped, unfortunately...

1982... suddenly, back again in soft tempo mode. When we see the number of titles produced on this kind of tempo, we are close to the world record, that's for sure...

1986... definitely, in Dance, nothing is going well. This title will go downright 'through' while it is far from deserving. Hard law of the trade...

1986...every year since their debut will have seen the production of at least one Intimist title. At least because most of the time we are talking about several...

1986...the production of titles does not slow down but it is the level of success in the Charts which slows him down drastically. Beware danger as they say...

1990...not much more interesting and here they are starting this new 90s decade. And of course, concerning them, nothing changes as usual...

1996... so there we completely lose sight of them for almost 6 years. So here they are again in this year 1996 in a form that we will describe as relative. Relative but sufficient to land a very last 'little' hit, to say the least unexpected...

1997...the rest is more anecdotal than anything else. The adventure continues but it is clear that they will now do more some figuration than anything else...

1998...they will still have managed to last almost 3 decades, which is not nothing. They will have achieved a few big hits but will have missed the consecration by an impossibility to diversify which will inevitably marginalize them automatically...

2015...we thought the case was over and here they are back in this year 2015, who would have thought ? And of course, always in the same register. We won't remake them again, that's for sure...
