The Time, also known as 'Morris Day And The Time' and 'The Original 7ven', is an American band formed in Minneapolis in 1981 and originally composed of Morris Day, Jellybea Johnson, Jesse Johnson, Monte Moir, Terry Lewis, Jimmy Jam and Jerome Benton.
A group that was born under the leadership of Prince, who negotiated with Warner Bros to recruit and produce other artists for the label.
A first eponymous album was released in 1981 and allowed the group to experience its first successes with the title "Cool".
Success confirmed and amplified the following year in 1982 with the release of the album "What time is it ?" , album which will mainly produce the hit Single “777-9311”.
But it is especially the year 1984 which will bring them a semblance of consecration with the album "Ice cream castle", an album which will produce two of their biggest hits with "Jungle love" and "The bird".
On the album side, they will have to wait 6 more years and the year 1990 to win the cup with "Pandemonium". Biggest hit on the albums side but also biggest hit on the Singles side with the title "Jerk out" which will remain as their highest ranked of all.
Two notorious successes that will be the last because everything that will come out thereafter will only know a level of success that is altogether limited...
