The blue tunics...

Début De Soirée is a French duo composed of Sacha Goëller and William Picard, the first director of a Marseillaise radio station and the other DJ in a nightclub near Aix en Provence.

Their first single "Mister DJ" was released in 1987 and was released under the band name Yankee. Single that will go completely unnoticed.

They had to wait for the year 1988 and the release of a title called ... "Nuit de folie" to see their fate completely changed. The title (inspired by Patty Ryan's track "(You’re) my love, (You’re) my life" from 1986) is a hit, sets the whole of France on fire and literally explodes their notoriety. It sells for around a million and a half copies of the title, just that !

Also in 1988, they did it again in the wake with the title "La vie la nuit", a single which was going to be a hit in turn but which could not all the same compete with its predecessor, the bar was so high.

The year 1989 saw the release of their first album "Jardins d´enfants", album which will produce the single of the same name. A title in total opposition to the 2 previous titles since the group is playing it this time in ballad mode. A ballad that pleases, in any case, because it will sell almost 200,000 copies. New single "Chance" at the end of 1989, a title which is also popular with the public.

But the change of decade was going to be fatal for the group and the decline was already underway when the title “Belles, belles, belles” was released, a luxury cover of Claude François' title. The title only met with mixed success, as did the album "Passagers de la nuit" which came out a year later in 1991. All the singles taken from the album met with only a weak echo from the public.

The album "Faut pas exagérer" to be released in 1996 did nothing to reverse the trend.

In the end, a great adventure even if it was short. The two friends will still have left in their wake a title that will remain as one of the biggest dance hits of all time on the French side. Something to be proud of !

Clips :

1987 ... the first steps, to say the least correct, of 2 unknown young man who will not stay that way for long. But how can we imagine at this stage the awesome sequel that is on the horizon ...

1988 ... then comes THIS title. A title can be extremely simple but of a formidable efficiency. The 2 accomplices sign here quite simply one of the biggest dance hits of this end of the XXth century on the French side. A title which makes them fit One Shot into the musical legend of the years 80. MAS-TER-FU-LLY seen !

1989 ... a sequel that largely holds up and allows the two friends to show that they are not there by chance. Even if it cannot match the colossal success of the previous title, it will achieve a most honorable course !

1989 ... an astonishing foray into the Intimist domain, an area which is not really their business. And my gosh, they're far from ridiculous. Good try !

1989 ... we suspected that the tender break was not going to last long. Hunt the natural, it comes back at a gallop. Here they are back in Dance, in a way they now master perfectly. Their goodwill is evident, but the public is starting to tire. Already...

1990 ... they are trying everything for everything in this new decade with this luxury cover of the cult title of Claude François dating from 1962. Unfortunately for them, the public now expects something else. So even if this cover is nice, the gap with the new musical standards of the moment becomes really too important ...

1991 ... a decade of 90 which will prove to be much more complicated to manage than expected. They try here to remake the shot of the title which made the glory of old standards of past decades. Unfortunately a certain Laurent Voulzy has already thought about it with a little title called ... 'Rockcollection' !

1991 ... and yet what they continue to offer is far from unworthy. Unfortunately, the competition has become ruthless with them and nothing, and no one, will be able to change anything ...

1991 ... the last stand which unfortunately will not change the situation. The decline of the group is irremediable. But whatever the case, they can always boast of having left in the musical history of the 80s a piece of anthology which still makes the whole of France dance every week !
