Head to toe...

Lisa Lisa And Cult Jam is an American band formed in the early 80's and originally composed of Lisa Valez, Alex Moseley and Mike Hughes.

Group that released a first title "I wonder if I take you home" in 1983 on a compilation called 'Breakdancing'.

Title that will not go unnoticed and it is the Columbia Records label that will officially release the Single in 1984, which will eventually explode at the highest level a year later in 1985.

A year 1985 which also saw the release of their first eponymous album, an album which confirmed the public's enthusiasm for the group.

New successful Single the following year in 1986 with the release of "All cried out", a Single that will be found on the album "Spanish fly" in 1987. A huge album which will remain as the biggest success of the group and which will also produce their biggest Singles hit with the title "Head to toe".

At the rate of an album every 2 years, it was the turn of "Straight to the sky" to be released in 1989, an album with less success than its predecessor but which was nonetheless to produce the very large caliber Single "Little Jackie wants to be a star”.

Following the logic of the previous releases, it was the turn of "Straight outta hell's kitchen" to be released in 1991. An album which would mainly produce the hit Single "Let the beat hit 'Em".

Album which will be the last of the adventure, an adventure which will all the same have allowed them to leave a significant trace in the musical history of this end of the 20th century...

To discover or rediscover.

Clips :

1985...first title and already first planetary success, if that's not what we call a sensational start, I don't know what it is then !

1985...a sequel to lesser success but success all the same, which confirms that the group has indeed become in a single year one of the phenomena of the moment. Good performance !

1986...while everything had started perfectly well in 1985, the year 1986 will see them unscrew in the Charts in a violent way to say the least. Cruel turn of events...

1987...we suspected that this slight air hole could only be temporary. Here they are back in this year 1987 in an Olympic form, so much so that they will win the biggest success of their entire career. HU-GE !

1987...an exceptional year 1987 in all respects since this title will be almost as strong as its predecessor. The group is on a small cloud and unrolls in a way that is impressive to say the least...

1987 ... after 2 huge titles, this title will know a much less flattering fate and yet it is far from unworthy. Anyway, nothing to worry about at this stage...

1988... the even years do not suit them more than that at first sight. There is certainly success, but success of low amplitude which sends them directly into the depths of the Charts...

1988 ... here they are on the soundtrack of the film 'Caddyshack II', a film which will not stay in history as a masterpiece, that's for sure. Hence a relative failure of the title...

1989... which will not prevent them from coming back in force at the very end of the decade. An ability to bounce back that we can only salute, hoping that it lasts as long as possible...

1989... the rebound will have been short-lived, to say the least, because here they are falling directly behind. Definitely...

1989...they were really unlucky because each time they ventured into the Intimist domain the result was disappointing on the Charts side, to say the least. Really unfortunate...

1991... new major rebound at the very beginning of the 90s, that's the good news. For the bad, it will indeed be the last...

1991...another nice title that will pass more or less 'through'. There's nothing to be done, the 'emotional' register will never have brought them fame and fortune...

1991...they try to ward off fate with this new title, all in finesse and lightness, but nothing helps, when it doesn't want to, it doesn't want to. Difficult to fight indefinitely in these conditions...

1991...a title that will only work across the Channel but it's still better than nothing as they say. Times are getting harder and harder for the group, it is clear...

1993...we find her solo two years later. She tells herself that she alone may be able to get back into the race more easily than in grouped mode and on this one, she was absolutely right !

1994...the star only shone for the time of the previous title and even in solo the success was only very short-lived. End of the adventure for good this time...

2009...when we thought we would never see her again, here she is back in an unexpected way, to say the least, almost 15 years later. A return that will unfortunately go somewhat unnoticed...

2009...and yet she knew how to adapt perfectly to the latest musical trends of the moment. But this break of almost 15 years has somewhat relegated her to oblivion...

2009...difficult in these conditions to make up for lost time. The basic fans are necessarily delighted to see her return but there will be only them at first sight...

2009 ... anyway she will have at least tried. And it really won't have missed much to come back a little bit in the race...
