They can't wait...
Nu Shooz is an American group formed in Portland in 1979 by the couple John Smith-Valerie Day, husband and wife in the city. Originally, the group consisted of 12 members.
They released a first album "Can’t turn it off" in 1982, an album which was to meet with limited success. From 12, the group then increases to 7 members. Size that he will keep until the end.
The album "Tha’s right" which came out three years later in 1985 did not do much better.
It was not until the year 1986 and the album "Poolside" to see the group's efforts finally rewarded. Thanks to the huge remixed track "I can’t wait". Flagship title of the group whose first version released a year earlier had given nothing. The single is a real hit to the point of setting fire to all the Dancefloor on the planet. And exploded the notoriety of the group at the same time.
Big year 1986 which sees them align another top hit with the title "Point of no return". And to a lesser extent "Don’t let me be the one".
The album "Told U so" which was released two years later in 1988 was far from being the same level of success. Only the title "Are you lookin 'for somebody Naked" will more or less stand out. Album which will be the last.
To discover or rediscover.
Discography (among others ...) :
Goin’ too far 1985
I can’t wait 1986
Point of no return 1986
Don’t let me be the one 1986
Should I say yes 1988
Are you lookin’ for somebody nu 1988
Time will tell 1992
1985 ... beginnings for the least confidential with a first title which will pass completely under the radars. We will therefore have to wait a little longer for the great fireworks display ...
1986 ... and the great fireworks display, here it is. And yes, already! The group simply signs here what will undoubtedly remain as one of the biggest dance hits of the decade and of the end of the twentieth century period. A shattering start to his career which launched the group in the best possible way. MAS-TER-FUL !
1986 ... a BIG year 1986 with a second top hit in the wake. Certainly less prestigious than its predecessor but impossible to compete as the bar is high ...
1986 ... a third title to end in style this exceptional year from all points of view. Even if the group is still on a very large dance dynamic, this title will not have at all the same level of success as the previous ones
1988 ... after a euphoric year 1986, 1987 will be an empty year. We therefore find them in 1988 on a title which has nothing to do with the style that made their fortune and their glory. Here they are surprisingly in Intimate mode and the least we can say is that it works too ! Return of success ...
1988 ... and it's already the end. At least, on the hits side. Here they sign their last major hit on a Dance track of certain quality
1988 ... all that will come out thereafter will meet little echo with the public. Frankly shame because the group continues to produce frankly inspired titles ...
1992 ... the change of decade unfortunately will not change the destiny of the group. This title will indeed be the last ...
