Eurythmics is an English duo formed in 1980 by Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart and which has sold around 75 million records worldwide.
Originally, the 2 were part of a band called "The Catch", a group with a punko-rock lean. Group which will produce only one title before becoming "The Tourists". Which in turn will not produce much.
The first album "In the garden" was released in 1981, from which the single "Never gonna cry again" was extracted. And who will come out in general indifference.
In 1982, a radical change in tone and working methods, but without really positive results. The atmosphere is more than gloomy to the point that Lennox is depressed and Stewart has a serious lung problem.
They had to wait until 1983 to see all their efforts finally rewarded with the release of the album "Sweet dreams", an enormous album that produced the single of the same name.
Single with a bewitching sound and carried by a clip where the orange color of the singer's hair makes the buzz all by itself. It’s a huge success. Annie Lennox’s notoriety literally exploded and she became the new icon of the moment.
The album "Touch" was released the same year and produced no less than 3 major hits : "Who's that girl", "Right by your side" and "Here comes the rain again". The album is the Charts' first No.1 album for the duo who have now succeeded in everything.
In 1984, new mega hit with the single "Sexcrime (Nineteen Eighty-Four)", taken from the soundtrack of the film "1984 (For the love of Big Brother)".
1985 is the year of the consecration with the release of the album "Be yourself tonight", produced in 1 weekend in Paris and in which will participate big names in musicians.
Album which gives a rain of single hits including "Would I lie to you", "It's alright (baby's coming back)" but also and especially the magnificent "There must be an angel (playing with my heart)" which becomes their first N°1 at the English Top Singles level.
A year later in 1986, the album "Revenge" was released, an album that marked a breaking point in terms of sales and the group's room for improvement. And this despite the presence of two flagship singles that are "Missionary man" and the enormous "The miracle of love".
In 1987 the album "Savage" was released which marked a new turning point in the sound side and a dark and oppressive side in the lyrics of certain songs. On the sales side, it will mainly market across the Channel but little across the Atlantic.
The same came out in 1989 for the album "We too are one". Which will result in the separation of the duo the following year, thus ending the extraordinary adventure of an extraordinary group.
And who will have been one of the most iconic and prolific groups of the 1980s.
To discover or rediscover.

1985 ... new year with 4 hits after 1983. This time with a much more rock rhythm. It works again but it is borderline irrelevant concerning them ...

1986 ... an Annie Lennox with cleats and who almost comes to frightening. But that's what makes all the difference between her and the others ...
1986 ... the WONDER ! And as paradoxical as it may seem, this title with extraordinary lyricism will only offer them a classic success. It just goes to show that genius is not always rewarded at its fair value ...
1987 ... a year 1987 somewhat behind and moderately inspired compared to the 3 previous years which can easily be qualified as exceptional. A pivotal year that will begin the decline of the group in a very subtle way but also in an irremediable way ...

1988 ... a dazzling return of inspiration which shows that the group still has a hell of a lot under the pedal !
1989 ... the end of the decade which rhymes with a return to success. But the group no longer has that touch of madness, nor that stroke of genius that made them so unique ...
