Phil Barney, whose real name is Philippe Baranès, is a French singer-songwriter who began his artistic career at the age of 13 with a group called Terre Neuve, a group made up of classmates. Then at 16, we find him this time with the Diam’s, a group with which he will tour mainly in dancing parties for about 6 years.
He participated in the early 1980s in the explosion of free radio and found himself hosting a very funk-oriented program on the famous radio Carbone 14 (since disappeared). Then became a DJ in a nightclub in the Paris region and finally ended up on RTL Tv on which he hosted a show for almost 2 years.
His singing debut came in 1984 when he released his first single "Marre d'être seul", a single that unfortunately went completely unnoticed.
It was not until 1987 that the odds finally turned in his favor when the single "Un enfant de toi" was released. The title will be a hit in France and propel him into the limelight in a shattering fashion.
A highlight that will be short-lived because the titles that will come out subsequently such as "Avec qui tu vis" and "Un coeur qui danse" in 1988, "Le souvenir de toi" in 1989 and other "Tour d'ivoire" in 1990 will know nothing of the success met by "Un enfant de toi" ...

1983 ... Dance beginnings after all confidential and under a name that goes everywhere. In short, not really ideal for launching a career worthy of the name ...
1987 ... one title, THIS title, was enough for the singer to obtain the right to engrave his name in the musical Pantheon of the 80s on the French side. Here he signs one of the Intimist titles among the most striking of the decade and at the same time offers himself a direct ticket to the big league. MAS-TER-FUL !
1988 ... a talent in the Intimist far above the average which is confirmed title after title. Unfortunately, this title will not really have the same level of success as its predecessor ...
1988 ... here he arrived in the field of Dance. And my faith, what he offers is of more than obvious quality. At the same time, he demonstrates a certain versatility which makes him one of the sure values of the moment
1989 ... a Dance parenthesis quickly closed to refocus on its core target, namely the Intimist. And once again, the result is up to par !
1990 ... the transition to the 90s is also smooth. A know-how in this area really above the norm and which however will not bring him more than that ...
1990 ... what is incredible is that the public were stuck on his first title and hardly took an interest in everything he produced afterwards. A paradox to say the least incomprehensible when we see the quality of the whole ...
1991 ... anyway, he still believes in it and does better than resist. But there is nothing to do, whatever he offers, whether in the area of Intimist or Dance, the public is absent subscribers ...
1991 ... a year 1991 resolutely oriented Dance. It is clear that at some point you have to try everything. This therefore forces him to leave his Intimist comfort zone and once again, what he offers is largely up to the task. But where did the early fans go ...?
1992 ... a year 1992 which saw him return to his fundamentals. But whatever he does, all his efforts are in vain. When it doesn't want anymore, it doesn't want anymore ...
1992 ... he unrolls quietly without worrying about the world around him. A desire to move forward that we can only greet but which will unfortunately get him nowhere ...
1993 ... here he is in a rocko-punchy fashion in which we are really not used to seeing him. It's well tried but it will not change the game again ...
1993 ... even if it has been a long time since he won the 1st places in the Top50, what he continues to offer holds up. So why sulk our pleasure ...
1994 ... another pretty ballad of which he has the secret. A talent that would have really deserved recognition much higher than it was. But the public always has the last word in the end. Hard law of the trade ...
1995 ... a mid-1990s that saw him weaken somewhat in terms of inspiration. We feel that the end of the adventure is near and that it will be difficult for him to fight again like that for years to come ...
1995 ... a year 1995 which will not be remembered as its best vintage. The titles produced are of average quality after all and this is not very reassuring for the rest of the events ...
1998 ... after a big air gap of 3 years, here he comes back in this year 1998 in a certain form. He returns once again to his fundamentals and gives us a very good quality Intimist track. But that will not stop the decline that has been underway for a few years now ...
1999 ... he still believes in it even if all the indicators are now red. 'Nothing can stop me' as he says in the song. But this time, it is indeed the end unfortunately ...
2015 ... the Phoenix desperately tries to rise again from its ashes. Here he is back in this decade of 2010 and the least we can say is that he is far from being ridiculous. Like what, nothing is ever finished !
