Phil Barney, whose real name is Philippe Baranès, is a French singer-songwriter who began his artistic career at the age of 13 with a group called 'Terre Neuve', a group made up of classmates. Then at 16, we find him this time with the Diam’s, a group with which he will tour mainly in dancing parties for about 6 years.
He participated in the early 1980s in the explosion of free radio and found himself hosting a very funk-oriented program on the famous radio Carbone 14 (since disappeared). Then became a DJ in a nightclub in the Paris region and finally ended up on RTL Tv on which he hosted a show for almost 2 years.
His singing debut came in 1984 when he released his first Single "Marre d'être seul", a Single that unfortunately went completely unnoticed.
It was not until 1987 that the odds finally turned in his favor when the Single "Un enfant de toi" was released. The title will be a hit in France and propel him into the limelight in a shattering fashion.
A highlight that will be short-lived because the titles that will come out subsequently such as "Avec qui tu vis" and "Un coeur qui danse" in 1988, "Le souvenir de toi" in 1989 and other "Tour d'ivoire" in 1990 will know nothing of the success met by "Un enfant de toi" .
