Skids is a Scottish band formed in Dunfermline in 1977, originally consisting of Stuart Adamson, William Simpson, Thomas Kellichan and Richard Jobson.
Group which released a mini-album “Charles” the following year in 1978 thanks to the No Bad label, a mini-album which did not go completely unnoticed since it ended up in the hands of the famous English DJ John Peel.
A spotlight which will allow them to change labels and sign with Virgin Records the same year, a label which allows them to release the Single “Sweet suburbia”. A first Single which will give them their first classified title and above all allow them to finally move from the shadows to the light in a consistent way.
The beginning of recognition, the real one, arrived a year later in 1979 with the successful release of the title “Into the valley”, a Single that we would find on their first album “Scared to dance” which would also be released the same year.
An exceptional year in 1979 for the group since they released a second album right away called “Days in Europa”. Album which will offer the group no less than 2 additional hits with the titles “Charade” and “Working for the Yankee dollar”. Added to this is the release of the non-album Single “Masquerade”, a Single which will remain as one of their highest ranked.
New album “The absolute game” a year later in 1980, an album which in turn was a hit, notably thanks to 3 high-caliber Singles : “Circus games”, “Goobye civilian” and “Woman in Winter”.
Major successes which will be the last because everything that comes out subsequently will only experience a very limited level of success.
