A Flock of Seagulls is an English group formed in Liverpool in 1979 by the brothers Michael "Mike" and Alister "Ali" Score. Duo who will be quickly joined by Francis Maudsley and Paul Reynolds.
The first successes came in 1981 with the release of the singles "It’s not me talking" and "Telecommunication". Followed a year later in 1982 by the release of the title "I ran" which will make them known worldwide and become a planetary hit.
The album, named after the group, was released immediately, as well as another flagship single, "Space age love song". Still successful.
Also in 1982, an exceptional year for the group, the single “Wishing (If I had a photograph on you)” was released, which became a mega hit in England and around the world. Title extracted from the future album "Listen".
In 1983, the other titles extracted from “Listen” will not reach the expected success, like the following album “The story of a young heart” which was released in 1984. And this despite the presence of excellent titles like “The more you live, the more you love "and" Never again (The dancer) ".
The album "Dream come true" released in 1986 will do little better.
Less known than others despite an obvious quality, A Flock of Seagulls is really worth a detour and will have left in the musical history of the 80s excellent titles that it would have been a shame to ignore.
Especially since they will return in an unexpected way at the very beginning of the 2020 decade...
