Ramon and Pedro are in a boat...

Eric Morena was a French singer who started his artistic career in 1981 after giving up his first vocation which was to be...ecclesiastical !! He had even taken theological studies and had left as a missionary in Africa shortly before.

He entered the singing career not as a pop singer but as an opera singer and more specifically operetta.

He will experience his moment of glory in 1987 with the huge title “Oh Mon bateau !” a parody single that will sell over a million copies.

A year later in 1988 followed the singles "Je suis le toréro de l'amour" and "Ramon et Pedro" which will meet a more than honorable success but without comparison compared to the preceding one.

The album "Oh ! Mon album" was released in 1989, an album that was also relatively successful. And subsequent albums will now be mostly operetta-oriented.

A colorful, whimsical and extraordinary character, the singer has had the great merit of mixing lyrical singing and operetto-pop music, something that in the mid-1980s was not common.

Singer who will leave us on November 16, 2019 following a long illness at the age of 68.

To discover or rediscover.

Clips :

1987 ... the title of a lifetime ! This single title was enough for the artist to enter directly into the musical legend of the 80s on the French side. A hallucinating title, stripped out and totally vintage with its operetto-kitsch side. This does not prevent it from being still today surely one of the most cult titles of the 1980s. HU-GE !

1988 ... unfortunately, the unbridled exuberance of the artist will propel him as much as it will serve him. Full ahead on the first title and already in reverse on the 2nd. Often too too much kills too much ...

1988 ... of course, each title is sparkling, cheerful, light and airy but unfortunately too 'typical'. And too far out of step with the times ...

1989 ... the singer tries everything for everything. Mixing operetta sound and 80s Dance sounds. A risky bet which unfortunately will not allow him to return to success. Pity...

1989 ... well, there we are no longer even in exuberance but squarely in caricature. An off topic that the artist will pay at a high price ....

2011 ... a timeless title, far, far very far from its totally exuberant beginnings. THE ideal title to bow out and above all to show that in the end behind the caricature hid an artist much more sensitive than he seems ...
