Lisa Gerrard is an Australian singer-songwriter best known for her unique vocal technique of 'Glossolalia' but also for being one of the emblematic members of the group 'Dead Can Dance'. Singer who can also boast of being able to sing in no less than 3 octaves !
Artist who we will find in her beginnings within a group called 'Microfilm', a group which operated at the very beginning of the 80s within the post-punk music scene in Melbourne known as 'Little Band Scene'. A group adventure that is ephemeral to say the least…
A musical scene which will still allow her to cross paths with a certain Brendan Perry, an English artist with whom she will found the group 'Dead Can Deance' shortly after. Group which will experience a much more flattering destiny than its previous group and which will produce albums of unusual originality until 1998.
It was from 1995 that she began a parallel solo career which saw her release a first album "The mirror pool", an album which would enjoy significant success. Particularly thanks to the cult title “Sanvean (I am your shadow)”, a title that is mind-blowing as much for its lyricism as for the incredible vocal performance of the singer.
New album “Duality” 3 years later in 1998 but this time in collaboration with Pieter Bourke.
But it was above all 2 years later that the singer reached the ultimate consecration in 2000 with the enormous title "Now we are free", a flagship title of her career which we will find on the soundtrack of a film no less flagship since it is 'Gladiator'.
A world of soundtracks in which we will find her many times in the years that follow, which will not prevent her from continuing to produce albums of more than certain quality at the same time.
