Golden Earring is a Dutch group formed in 1961 in The Hague and originally composed of a duo comprising George Kooymans and Rinus Gerristsen. Which will be quickly joined by Hans Van Herwerden and Fred Van Der Hilst.
Group which released a first Single four years later "Please go" in 1965, Single which will not go unnoticed, at least in the Netherlands. Single taken from their first album “Just ear-rings” which will be released the same year.
A successful take-off that saw the release of other albums during the 1960s, but the success was limited exclusively to the Flemish sphere.
They will have to wait for the following decade and the year 1970 to see their efforts rewarded internationally with the release of the album which bears the name of the group. Album whose flagship Single "Back home" will experience significant success throughout the Old Continent.
A decade of the 70s which in the end will devote them since they will know their greatest success on the album side in 1973 with the release of "Moontan", an album with worldwide success this time and which will also offer them their biggest success on the Singles side with the huge "Radar love".
Other albums will come out later but with less success with all the same a good performance during the year 1982 thanks to the album "Cut", album whose flagship Single will be "Twilight zone".
And the adventure will continue thereafter with the release of other albums and other singles. But with success exclusively limited to their country of origin…
