Maurane, whose real name is Claudine Luypaerts, was a Belgian singer who began her artistic career in 1979 when she joined the show 'Brel en mille temps' alongside Philippe Lafontaine. Show which allows her to be noticed by the composer Pierre Barouh.
An important meeting that allowed her to release a first 45 rpm a year later under the pseudo Claude Maurane (Maurane referring to the director Francis Morane, who had just worked on Starmania). But the recognition, nor the success are at the rendezvous, so she will have to be content while waiting to play the luxury choristers for artists such as Viktor Lazlo and others Philippe Lafontaine.
It wasn't until 1984 that things really picked up when she recorded her first album "Dancing". But it was especially the meeting in 1988 with Michel Berger that will change everything. She thus obtains the emblematic role of Marie-Jeanne in the new version of Starmania and leaves for a 6-month tour. Tour that becomes hardly compatible with her personal plans, to the point that she quickly throws in the towel and will have to be replaced.
Then comes the year 1989 and the album "Maurane". Album which will finally reveal her to the eyes of the general public in particular thanks to the title "Toutes les mamas", title which will be a real hit this year.
Success was confirmed two years later in 1991 with the release of the album "Ami ou ennemi". An album carried mainly by the sumptuous "Sur un prélude de Bach" which, him, leaves in 1993. The singer is then at the zenith of her career.
Unfortunately, the albums that will be released subsequently will not meet the same level of success, gradually removing the artist from center stage.
The singer will continue the adventure during the decades 2000 and 2010 but without succeeding in returning to the race in a sustainable way and this despite the production of titles of more than certain quality.
An adventure that will end definitively on May 7, 2018, the date of the singer's death at the age of 57.

Fate awaits her in the shadows and will catch up with her brutally a few years later, ending the career of one who will remain as one of the most gifted singers of her generation
