Boris Gardiner is a Jamaican singer-songwriter who began his artistic career in 1960 by joining the group 'The Rhythm Aces', a group which would have some great success in 1961/62 with the titles "Angella", "A thousand teardrops" and "C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S".
We will find him in the years that will follow within groups such as 'Kes Chin And The Souvenirs', 'Carlos Malcolm And The Afro Caribs', 'The Broncos', 'Byron Lee And The Dragonnaires', 'The Upsetters', 'The Aggrovators', 'The Crystallites', among others…
The solo career began in 1970, when he had his first success with the title "Elizabethan reggae". A year 1970 which also saw the release of his first album "Reggae happening", an album which unfortunately went somewhat unnoticed...
It will be the same for the albums "It's so nice to be with you" still in 1970, "Soulful experience" in 1971, "For all we know" in 1972, "Is what's happening" in 1973 as well as "Every niger is a star" in 1973.
He will have to wait for the year 1986 and the release of the album "Everything to me" to finally see all his efforts rewarded, in particular thanks to the huge Single "I wanna wake up with you".
A feat that he will not be able to reproduce despite the release of other albums and other Singles thereafter.
