Diane Tell, whose real name is Diane Fortin, is a Canadian singer who started her musical career at the age of 6 by studying the violin at the Conservatory of Val d´Or.
From 1972, it was the classical guitar that she studied at the Montreal Conservatory.
Everything accelerated from 1976 when she got noticed by Radio Canada while she sang in the streets of Montreal during the Olympic Games.
She released her first album in 1977 of which she composed all the songs. Album that has only had a resounding success.
It was not until two years and the year 1979 that her song "Si j'étais un homme" crossed the Atlantic and enjoyed enormous success in France.
In 1982 the Single "Souvent, longtemps, énormément" was released, followed in 1983 by "Savoir. Two Singles of a certain quality but with relative success.
Two years passed and in 1984 released the Singles "Manhattan" and "Pleure pas pour moi" which will go even more unnoticed.
It was in 1985 that the singer returned to success with the title "Faire à nouveau connaissance" that she co-wrote with a certain ... Françoise Hardy.
Other titles will follow which again will have little public response.
Until 1990 when she obtained one of the main roles in the musical "La légende de Jimmy" by Michel Berger and Luc Plamandon. The Single, of the same name and of which she is the interpreter, is a huge success. It will be his last.
This will not prevent her from continuing the adventure thereafter and producing other albums of significant interest...
What is certain is that we will long remember this mythical sentence of which she is the author and which is worth its weight in peanuts : "If I were a man, I would be captain, of a boat, green and white…. !
