Ottawan is a French group, more precisely a duo composed of the singers Jean Patrick and Annette. It all starts when Jean Patrick, a singer of Guadeloupean origin decides to come to Metropolitan France to try his luck. He then founded with a friend named Annette the group "Black Underground". It is producer Daniel Vangarde who spots them and has them signed, a fan of their boundless energy and this music strongly inspired by the islands. The group was quickly renamed "Ottawan" in reference to the Canadian capital Ottawa. It was in 1979 that everything accelerated when the huge hit "D.I.S.C.O" was released, which very quickly became a planetary hit. Then in 1980 released the second big hit "T’es OK" which turned out to be one of the biggest successes of the year. Also in the same year, the now cult “Haut les mains” was released, which also became a planetary hit in its English version “Hands up (give me your heart)”.
