Atlantic Starr is an American band formed in 1976 and originally composed of Duke Jones, Porter Carroll Jr., Clifford Archer, Joseph Philips, Sheldon Tucker and brothers David, Wayne and Jonathan Lewis.
Group that really started its career in 1977 under the name Newban, which was quickly abandoned in favor of Atlantic Starr.
The end of the 1970s and the beginning of the 1980s saw the release of several albums including “Atlantic Starr” in 1978, “Straight to the point” in 1979, “Radiant” in 1981, “Brilliance” in 1982 and “Yours”. forever ”in 1983. 5 albums with average success and which will struggle to produce any major hit.
They will have to wait for 1985 and the release of the album "As the band turns" to finally see their efforts rewarded. The album is a worldwide hit and will produce their first mega hit, "Secret lovers". And to a lesser extent "If your heart isn’t in it" which will also have a nice run in the Charts.
Success confirmed and especially amplified two years later in 1987 with the release of the album "All in the name of love", the band's flagship album and which will produce the biggest hit of all their discography, namely "Always". Shortly followed by "One lover at a time", single with less success but with significant success nonetheless.
The albums that will be released subsequently will unfortunately not experience the success of the previous opus. Note all the same that the group will experience a last notorious hit the following decade in 1991 with the single "Masterpiece".

1987 ... a Dance parenthesis quickly closed. They will have produced an impressive number of Intimist titles, to say the least. And each time, the quality will have been there !
1988 ... a year 1988 which will not be remembered as their best vintage, but the level of quality is sufficient to keep them in the leading pack. It's already that !
1989 ... another interesting title on the Intimist side, but it is clear that at one point, too much Intimist risks killing the Intimist. Especially since they are not bad at Dance and it would be a shame not to take advantage of it ...
