A million ways...

Freddie Jackson, whose real name is Frederick Jackson, is an American singer who began his artistic career in the 1970s with the group 'LJE' (Laurence Jones Ensemble), a group which then performed in New York nightclubs.

But it was especially when he joined the group 'Mystic Merlin' at the end of the 1970s that he experienced his first successes, notably through 3 albums that he produced with the group from 1980 to 1982.

It is from 1984 that he will start to stand on his own feet by signing with the Capitol Records label, a label which will allow him to release a first album "Rock me tonight" a year later in 1985. Album which will make a real worldwide hit and project the singer in a shattering way on the front of the international musical scene thanks in particular to the huge Single "You are my lady".

New album "Just like the first time" a year later in 1986, an album which confirms the enormous enthusiasm of the public for the singer. Album which will produce a first top hit "Tasty love" in 1986 then another with "Jam tonight" in 1987.

The year 1988 saw the release of the album "Don't let love slip away", an album which showed a certain decline in terms of success in the Charts but also in terms of Singles. Only the title "Nice 'N' slow" will succeed.

A decline that will only accelerate during the decades that will follow despite the release of other albums and other Singles...

To discover or rediscover.

Clips :

1980...the first steps in grouped mode. The best way to embark on the adventure while minimizing the risks as they say...

1980... after that means following the movement which somewhat restricts the spirit of initiative. Which for the moment does not pose a problem for him at first sight...

1981...because the group is far from unworthy, that's clear. We are not going to lie to each other, this group will not remain as the most talented of its generation...

1981...that didn't prevent them from producing titles of not insignificant quality, which is already more than good. Anyway, we'll be happy...

1982... an adventure in grouped mode which will not go further than this year 1982 but which will have at least allowed him to do his classes as they say...

1985...he will have to wait 3 years to start flying on his own but the result will exceed all his expectations with a first notorious success at the key...

1985...it's the Intimist register that will allow him in just 2 titles to become one of the most prominent artists of the moment. An ideal career start...

1985...here he is again in grouped mode with Paul Laurence and Lillo Thomas. A trio that will work rather well even if this title will only experience an average level of success...

1985... back in solo and this time in Dance mode. Return winner in any case since this title will offer him a new star to add to a prize list which is seriously starting to expand...

1986... direct return to Intimist mode, a register that he particularly likes at first sight. Who would blame him as they say...

1986...and the Intimist at 2, it's even better ! Here it is in shock and charm duo mode on a title full of finesse and lightness that works very well...

1986...an Intimist mode which in any case pays off in the Charts given the level of success achieved. As a general rule, it always pays off in this area when the inspiration is going well...

1986...and since it pays so much to come back to it as much as possible. A reasoning which for the moment is most favorable to him …

1987... be careful not to abuse it too much because it won't pay off the same way all the time. The proof with this title to success for the least limited...

1987... suddenly he will reaccelerate the tempo somewhat and this will show him that alternating Intimist and Dance does not harm, quite the contrary given the success achieved by this title...

1987...but there is nothing to do, as soon as he can return to Intimist mode, he rushes into it directly. But concerning him too much of the Intimist starts to kill the Intimist...

1988... suddenly he becomes aware of the danger and leaves behind in a slightly more accelerated mode. And well takes him because success returns as if by magic...

1988... the relapse behind is immediate since he leaves again in Intimist mode. There's nothing to do, we won't remake him again as they say...

1989...even if the level of success in the Charts constantly fluctuates, the overall quality level is still largely sufficient to keep him in the race...

1989...as soon as he returns to Dance business resumes as they say. Like what it really doesn't take much to change the situation...

1989 ... here he is again in shock and charm duo mode and as on the previous ones the result is up to what we could expect from the 2 artists ...

1990...a new decade which starts again on the same bases as the previous one, that is to say in glamorous mode. But he seems not to understand that this is no longer where people expect him...

1990...on the other hand as long as its titles continue to be ranked why change anything in its strategy. And in principle he is absolutely right...

1991...certainly he only appears in the R&B Charts but that's already it. As long as there is minimum success and the basic fans are still there, he will continue in the same way...

1991...a style and a sound that has hardly changed since its beginnings. He will still have to be careful not to lose too much compared to the competition in the years to come...

1991...for the moment it is not his main concern at first sight. But the musical world has evolved considerably over the past few years and he will have to take this into account at one time or another...

1992... everything is stable in the Jackson universe or should we rather say everything is frozen. So frozen that a feeling of repetition is seriously beginning to emerge...

1992... what was to be feared happened, that is to say that the singer stalled compared to the competition and that even the Dance mode no longer pays...

1992 ... he tries everything for everything with this revisited version of the mythical title of Billy Paul dating from 1972. Nice version but nothing more than the original anyway ...

1993... only one title for the year 1993, a weakness of production to which he had not accustomed us. It remains to be seen if this would not be the beginning of the end...

1994...he tries again the duo of shock and charm but this time in Dance mode. Nice try but it won't pay more than that in the Charts...

1994 ... anyway he continues his adventure in his own way and without really taking into account the fact that he is dropping out more and more. Stange strategy...

1995... business picks up slightly in this new year 1995 but in a way that we will qualify as moderate. Beware danger as they say...

1995 ... already 10 years of presence at the highest level but we feel that the best years are now behind him. Hard law of the trade...

1999... we will lose sight of him for almost 4 years but here he is again. Stealth return or salutary recovery ? To be continued as they say...

2005... there it is downright 6 years that will separate this title from the previous one. He makes it a point of honor to come back again and again, but we feel that it is becoming more and more complicated...

2006...especially since he comes back again and again but without having changed anything in its style and its sound. Not easy in these conditions to return to the front of the stage...

2007...in any case, he benefits from a base of fans who have followed him since his beginnings and which allow him to continue to exist for a little while...

2010...in any case, he continues to believe in it, against all odds. A desire to move forward again and again that unquestionably commands respect...

2014...this time the release of the Charts is well and truly recorded. He will have resisted as long as he could but it had to happen one day...

2017... with each new title, we tell ourselves that it will surely be the last and each time he comes back again and again. A will that defies time and the absence of results...

2018...as long as he enjoys doing what he does there is no reason for him to throw in the towel permanently. Who would blame him...

2019... as much as he was little present during the 2000 decade, he makes it a point of honor to come back as often as possible during this 2010 decade...

2020... so we imagine that this title will surely not be the last. Because we now know with him nothing is ever over...
