Words don't come easily to him ...

F.R. David, whose real name is Robert Fitoussi, is a French artist whose musical career began in the late 1960s.

He began by accompanying his sister as a bass player and then became the singer of the group "Boots".

At the beginning of the 70s, he opened a break by playing guitarists for Vangelis with which he produced the album "Earth".

Then made a jump across the Atlantic with the hard group "Variations" with whom he recorded an album.

He multiplies collaborations notably with artists such as Aerosmith, Toto, Steely Dan, among others.

But it was not until 1981 that he finally knew it was consecrated with his planetary tube "Words" which remained at the top of European Charts for 17 weeks and sold over 8,000,000 copies !

He later released other well-made singles such as "I need you", "Pick up the phone", "Sahara night" and "Girl you’re my song".

But he will never be able to repeat the phenomenal feat of "Words" and will gradually fall back into complete anonymity.

To discover or rediscover.

Clips :

1967 ... no, no, you are not dreaming. It's the same singer who 15 years later will release one of the biggest dance hits of the end of the 20th century

1969 ... beginnings completely hallucinating and which do not let presume anything of the oufissime continuation of its career

1969 ... come on, we don't sulk about his pleasure. Everything is so Kitsch, the style, the images, the sound. A summary of the 70s !

1972 ... melodies already inspired and which shows the full potential of the artist. And there is potential !

1973 ... after the solo beginnings, here comes the parenthesis "Variations". The official switch from French to English ... things are becoming clearer

1981 ... then comes THIS title ! Who hasn't danced on this HUGE tube ! One of the biggest hits of that year, or even of the decade and which elevated him One Shot to the rank of planetary star. MAS-TER-FUL !

1982 ... a continuation my faith very sympathetic but which cannot compete with the previous steamroller

1983 ... a pretty American quarter of an hour goes somewhat unnoticed ... except across the Channel where he will be popular with the public

1983 ... business resumes, back to Dance. Nothing extraordinary but it still works

1983 ... melodies always inspired and which make it possible to produce songs of certain quality

1983 ... an amazing change of style. Clearly more rock oriented. Disconcerting ... and above all unproductive !

1984 ... a title that will remain as one of its best. Back to the fundamentals that made it successful and that work every time

1985 ... he will remain in the musical history of the 80s mainly for 1 title. While he will have produced a significant number of titles which would have frankly deserved recognition much higher than it was ...

1986 ... a nice walk in the Sahara that smells of hot sand ... quite simply. What more...

1986 ... a nice title which will not remain as one of its best titles but which works again

1987 ... he continues on his way. Quietly but surely, a perseverance that we can only salute !

1987 ... a discography that is growing year after year. In the end, a career spanning over 20 years. Respect !

1992 ... the change of decade will unfortunately not be a game-changer. A career that is slowly dying out ...
