Whitesnake is an English group formed in 1978 in Cleveland by David Coverdale. Singer coming directly from another band and not least namely Deep Purple. A Coverdale who will be joined by Bernie Marsden, Micky Moody, Neil Murray and David Dowle.
The group released a first album called "Trouble" the same year. And for a first try, it is quite a success even if the latter does not produce any ranked hits.
A year later in 1979 released the album "Lovehunter", album which will do better than its predecessor in terms of sales, create controversy with a tendentious album cover (a naked woman astride a coiled snake) but also , and above all, to offer the group its first hit classified with the title "Lon way from home".
The 1980s saw them move up a gear when the album "Ready an’ willing "was released. An album that this time is a hit on both sides of the Atlantic thanks to the single "Fool for your loving", a title originally written for B.B. King.
Further acceleration the following year in 1981 with the release of the album "Come an’ get it". And another big hit thanks to the single "Don’t break my heart again".
The first global hit "Here I go again" arrived in 1982 with the album "Saints & sinners" and paradoxical as it may seem, the album "Slide it in" which was released in 1984 produced only minor hits. While it will sell even better than its predecessor.
The real consecration came three years later with the release in 1987 of the album that bears the name of the group. The album is a huge planetary success, carried at arm's length by the remix of "Here I go again" as well as by "Is this love", and to a lesser extent "Give me all your love". And also by the makes the clips of the songs loop on MTV. The group is then at the height of its art.
The album "Slip of the tongue" was released in 1989. A new global hit, notably thanks to the flagship single "The deeper the love" as well as the remix of "Fool for your loving". Notorious success but which will unfortunately be the last.
Because all that will be released thereafter will in no way know the success of the previously released opuses.
