Organisation For Fun...

Sven Väth, also known as Off, is a German DJ who started his artistic career with a summer job in Ibiza in 1980. Off is actually an acronym for Organization For Fun.

He released his first Single "Bad news" in 1985, but it was a year later in 1986 that his fate changed when he released the intergalactic hit "Electrica salsa". The flagship Single of that year, the track literally ignites every dancefloor on the planet and hoists the artist to the top of notoriety. He will sell a million copies !

A year later in 1987, another success, albeit less, but still with the excellent Single "Step by step".

In 1988 he opened Club Omen in Frankfurt, which quickly became one of the most famous in Germany and is considered to this day as one of the cradles of Techno music.

Other titles would be released later, but they could never compete with the previous ones.

He created several labels in the 90s, the best known and most prolific of which will remain “Eye Q”.

1985 ... everything is already in place. The style, the sound, the voice. All that remains is to unroll. And to unroll, it will unroll !

1986 ... because here comes the title of a lifetime, the one which propels to the firmament and makes One Shot fit its author into the musical legend of the 80s. A title which will undoubtedly remain as one of the biggest Dance hits of the decade. And of the twentieth century period. MAS-TER-FUL !

1987 ... a sequel that will more or less compete with the previous gem. The confirmation of an obvious talent and a style that will remain decidedly unique...

1988 ... the rest will turn out to be less brilliant despite titles of obvious quality. All enhanced by an exuberance sometimes bordering on caricature but colorful ...

1988 ... always also Dance, always also in tune with the times. In true Off style. But that's not enough to make the difference ...

1989 ... the years go by and the excess remains. A freedom of tone, graphics and musical expression that is decidedly unique in its kind...

1989 ... a quality that is still omnipresent but that is not enough to turn the tide. However, it is not for lack of trying ...

1990 ... the OFF adventure will end there. A brilliant first part of his career for Sven Väth, a career that will not end there, far from it !

1992...the second begins under its real name with this new title. A continuation of his career which will not really resemble what he has done before, that's clear...

1992...most of the titles that will be released subsequently will be without vocals and mainly instrumental. Which does not mean there is a lack of quality...

1992...but it is clear that the absence of lyrics will considerably restrict the possibilities of the titles' influence, that's for sure...

1992...it is the future which will tell whether this musical reorientation was without risk or not because it is still too early to judge at this stage...

1992...at least for now it's holding up as they say. Not sure that the absence of words is the best option for him but everyone leads their career as they wish...

1995...as long as the quality level does not drop too much there is no reason for him to completely disappear from the radar. That's what he says anyway...

1995...and in principle he is absolutely right. But few artists have managed to maintain themselves at the highest level only with instrumentals...

1995...especially with pure and hard instrumentals as is the case with this opus. A little rhythm doesn't hurt, quite the contrary...

1995...and there is rhythm on this new title. We are therefore reassured that he has not lost all its fundamentals...

1995...a decade of the 90s which saw him stay more or less afloat without too much difficulty. Certainly success no longer has anything to do with what he experienced before but that doesn't seem to affect him that much at first glance...

1995...he also took the opportunity to multiply diverse and varied partnerships. On this opus it will essentially be pure and hard Dance...

1996...here he is now in soundtrack mode. Clearly, he tries everything and anything hoping to ultimately find what he seems to be looking for...

1998...the titles are rhythmic but almost too much now. If he could find a happy medium it would be ideal as they say...

1998...afterwards it was also in the spirit of the times to accelerate the tempo and we cannot blame him for sticking perfectly to the latest musical developments of the moment...

1998...the last title of a decade which saw him redirect his career in a very personal way. Unfortunately there is a price to pay in these cases...

2000...and here he is again, faithful to the post once again with the firm desire not to give up and above all to continue the adventure as far as possible...

2000...a tempo that does not slow down at the start of a new decade. There we no longer speak of instrumental but almost of experimental...

2000...the first opus in a long, very long series of Mix albums. Because there will be one like this per year from now on...

2001...obviously only purists will find themselves there because they are not sure that the general public is remotely or directly interested in it...

2001...his special opus Mix of the year. Part 2

2002...the main thing for him in any case is to continue to enjoy what he does and it doesn't matter whether the success is significant or not...

2002...he decides to revisit here one of Serge Gainsbourg's reference titles dating from 1969. An original revisited version whose main merit is to offer a rather surprising face to the title...

2002...a parenthesis quickly closed because here he is again in pure and hard Dance mode. We won't remake him again as they say, that's for sure...

2002...his special opus Mix of the year. A level of productivity which still continues to impress because we must remember that he began his career in 1985 !
