Plastic Bertrand, whose real name is Roger Jouret, is a Belgian singer whose particularity, apart from being an artist, is to be the child of a French and a Ukrainian who will have as a meeting place ... a concentration camp in Germany.
He really started his artistic career in 1973, at the age of 19, when he joined the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in the Percussions section. This did not prevent him from setting up the same year the group 'Hubble Bubble', very punk oriented and which will only release a single album.
It’s the meeting with producer singer Lou Deprijck that will change everything. He is the one who will compose the title "Ca plane pour moi" and offer it on a plate to Jouret. We are then in 1977. It is also Deprijck who will blow the pseudo Plastic Bertrand to Jouret, Bertrand alluding to the Belgian rock journalist Bert Bertrand.
The title will be a huge success to the point of selling more than 950,000 copies. The artist's fame literally exploded overnight. A detail that the public does not yet know is that it is not Plastic Bertrand who sings but Deprijck himself. Plastic Bertrand is therefore content simply to play back. This will also be the case on the other albums ...
A great deception as there were many during this period. And even if it is perfectly proven today, Plastic Bertand will forever remain, in the hearts of the public, the iconic performer of one of the biggest Dance hits of those blessed years ...
