Plastic Bertrand, whose real name is Roger Jouret, is a Belgian singer whose particularity, apart from being an artist, is to be the child of a French and a Ukrainian who will have as a meeting place ... a concentration camp in Germany.
He really started his artistic career in 1973, at the age of 19, when he joined the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in the Percussions section. This did not prevent him from setting up the same year the group Hubble Bubble, very punk oriented and which will only release a single album.
It’s the meeting with producer singer Lou Deprijck that will change everything. He is the one who will compose the title "Ca plane pour moi" and offer it on a plate to Jouret. We are then in 1977. It is also Deprijck who will blow the pseudo Plastic Bertrand to Jouret, Bertrand alluding to the Belgian rock journalist Bert Bertrand.
The title will be a huge success to the point of selling more than 950,000 copies. The artist's fame literally exploded overnight. A detail that the public does not yet know is that it is not Plastic Bertrand who sings but Deprijck himself. Plastic Bertrand is therefore content simply to play back. This will also be the case on the other albums ...
A great deception as there were many during this period. And even if it is perfectly proven today, Plastic Bertand will forever remain, in the hearts of the public, the iconic performer of one of the biggest Dance hits of those blessed years ...

1977 ... a completely breathtaking start with a track that spins at lightning speed. The magic tandem signs there one of the biggest dance hits of the decade and of the end of the twentieth century period. We couldn't ask for a better launch pad !
1978 ... he dares to take over one of Dalida's cult titles, a title dating from 1957. All in high-powered mode once again. And my faith, the 120,000 volts version works particularly well and gives him a notorious 2nd hit
1978 ... and it continues at the same pace. The tandem is on a dynamic of phew which produces hits after hits. Undoubtedly one of the biggest phenomena of the year !
1978 ... the tempo suddenly slows down and we come back to more classic Dance bases. A rhythmic break that feels good ...
1978 ... a radical change in the style of the most amazing. A facet of the tandem that we had not yet seen and which holds up, to say the least
1979 ... then there, better and better. Here they are now in Ultimate Slow mode. And big caliber on top of that. Light years away from "Ca plane pour moi". A big gap that we could never have imagined ...
1979 ... return to Dance and still this unique style which makes all the charm of the duo. The extraordinary voice of Deprijck associated with the delirious posturing of Jouret, an alchemy that works with godly fire !
1979 ... very simple melodies carried by a very trendy musical base which takes advantage of the latest technological innovations
1980 ... always astonishing songs, shifted at will and which work perfectly. Even if the tandem no longer reaches the top of the Charts, it continues its little path quietly but surely
1981 ... a completely atypical sound for the time with this title with strong Sixties accents. They love to surprise us and it works again !
1981 ... well, there, we are a bit close to caricature. A title that is very generic cartoon. It's friendly for children, that's for sure ...
1981 ... decidedly, the tandem tries by all means to bring the yéyé mode up to date. Faced with the competition, it becomes harder and harder to compete ...
1981 ... here they are back in intimate mode. An Intimate mode with strong Sixties accents once again. They do not come out ...
1982 ... in duo mode and this time, with a sound perfectly in line with the standards of the time. Finally !
1983 ... the style has finally evolved, it is confirmed title after title. Here they are finally well anchored in the 80s ... it was about time !
1983 ... the 2 accomplices sign here a luxury cover of the title of Peter Schilling carried out the same year. Admittedly, the copy is not worth the original but it is far from ridiculous either
1985 ... well, this time, it's a cartoon theme they are making. And the title is quite appropriate. Like what, when they want ...
1986 ... a nice Ultimate Slow that works perfectly and has nothing to envy the competition. We want more ...
1987 ... when Jouret launches into the Eurovision Song Contest. A daringly daring and high risk bet. And my faith, it is far from being ridiculous ...
1990 ... he will have crossed the decade of the 70s, then the 80s and here he is at the dawn of the 90s. A great longevity even if it has been a long time since he won the first places of the French Top50 ...
1994 ... and to finish in style, here he is in EuroDance mode. Well, now, it might be time to ask the right questions ...
