Ray Parker Jr is an American singer-songwriter who started his artistic career quite early when he joined the group Hamilton Bohannon in the mid-1960s, a group in which he was quickly noticed for his particular gifts as a guitarist.
And at the age of 16, he was already composing and recording his first song with a certain… Marvin Gaye.
In the early 1970s, he was seen appearing alongside Barry White in the Love Unlimited Orchestra. Then he will put his gifts as a guitarist and composer at the service of big names like the Carpenters, Rufus and Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner and other Diana Ross. Partnerships that will pay off since he got his first hit in 1974 with the track "You got the love" which he wrote especially for the group Rufus.
The end of the decade will be devoted to the Raydio adventure, a group he formed in 1977 and with which he will finally be able to appear on the front of the stage. The group will produce several titles of planetary class of which the best known will remain "Jack and Jill" in 1978, "You can't change that" in 1979 and "A woman needs love (Just like you do)" in 1981. Year 1981 which will be the group's last year of existence.
Beginning of solo career from the following year, which started off with a bang with a first global top hit "The other woman". Single taken from the album of the same name and which was also going to be a significant success.
New album "Woman out of control" a year later in 1983, album with less success but which will still produce a single of very high caliber with the title "I still can’t get over loving you".
Then came the year 1984 and especially the release of a little film called 'Ghostbusters'. A film which will become one of the biggest cinematographic phenomena of the year thanks in particular to the signed soundtrack…Ray Parker Jr. The artist signs here quite simply the biggest hit of his entire career and one of the biggest Dance hits from the end of the 20th century.
An exploit that he will unfortunately be unable to repeat afterwards because anything that will be released in the years to come will in no way meet the colossal success of this enormous title.

1980 ... a first part of career that is available to several within the Raydio group. And the least we can say is that this group has talent, that's clear !
1982 ... start of the solo career on the hats of wheel with this title which gives him a first personal planetary consecration. We couldn't ask for a better start !
1982 ... a great versatility with this nice Intimist title as a follow-up. Certainly he will not obtain the same level of success as his predecessor but he at least has the merit of showing another side of the artist
1982 ... a BIG year 1982 with a plethora of titles and quality at every level. The artist shows title after title that he is surely not there to do only some figuration
1982 ... 4 hits including 1 top Hit, the least we can say is that his career could not have dreamed of a better start. But given the level of talent of the guy, no wonder !
1983 ... new planetary top hit which positions him ideally for a sequel that promises to be amazing. The singer is now at the top of his condition and he will prove it in a brilliant way !
1984 ... well, it will not be on this title there but it does not matter considering the quality of the title served. Minimum service but efficient service !

1984 ... then comes THIS title. The title of the supreme consecration, the one which allows him to obtain One Shot his entry ticket to the musical Pantheon of the 80s. Here he signs one of the soundtracks of the most famous films of the 80s and obtains by the same occasion a mega planetary hit which rewards a talent among the best of his generation. MAS-TER-FUL !
1984 ... another year with 4 high caliber titles including 1 exceptional. The singer is on an incredible dynamic which allows him to touch the stars with his fingertips !
1985 ... it will be impossible for him to repeat thereafter the incredible feat achieved with 'Ghosbusters'. But the qualitative level is still very high and that's the main thing !
1985 ... he delivers here an absolutely sumptuous Ultimate Slow which, as paradoxical as it may seem, will not even be classified. Go figure ...
1986 ... a single-title year but a title with incredible energy ! A title which combines with 2 and which, despite a subsonic speed, works perfectly. All good !
1987 ... after 5 years at the top, it is clear that the success story begins to draw to an end. The level of success weakens, as does the level of inspiration. But we are still well above the average ...
1987 ... a new shocking duo, but above all charming. This time in Intimist mode and it is often in these cases that the result is the most successful. The proof once again with this nice title. MA-GIC !
1987 ... we take the same ones and start over. Since it worked perfectly on the previous title, there was no reason it shouldn't work with this one. The proof !
1990 ... when the singer plays the luxury choristers for the young in vogue. And why not give a little help, it doesn't eat bread as they say ...
1991 ... the transition to the 1990s will unfortunately be unfavorable to say the least. He will try well but he will not go beyond the year 1991. Anyway, 10 years of a solo career among the most prestigious, anyone would be happy with it !
